I originally wanted to watch this when it came out (because of Taecyeon, ngl) but the plot itself was unattractive…
Yeah, it’s unfortunate. I def think his character had potential, but it wasn’t utilized

Title My Name Spoiler
Great start but very botched conclusion imo. The revenge troupe is fine, even if it's been done to death a hundred times before. Choi Moo Jin was the crux of the show and they botched his story. The real problem was that he wasn't given any goal or motivation. In the beginning, he was presented as a wise drug lord looking to avenge the death of his friend, taking on a protector-role for his friend's daughter. But once Ji Woo's father was revealed to be a cop, Moo Jin's story direction took a complete 180. If felt like there was no purpose to his actions. Essentially, the show wants you to believe that Moo Jin is on a self-redemption arc by having his friend's daughter murder him, however his actions in the final 2 episodes did not achieve this. He became vindictive and resentful of Ji Woo whom he cared so deeply for in the beginning. End-of-show Moo Jin and early-show Moo Jin are two different characters entirely. This drastic change in direction for the character was never hinted at in the beginning, and the narrative beats in the middle did not aid to explain the transformation. Also, what was the purpose of Pil Do's death? Killing main characters is fine with me, but there needs to be a pretty damn good reason for it. Pil Do's death did't make any sense. Due to some seriously sloppy writing at the end alongside very convenient plot armor for the sake of suspense, "My Name" really left a sour taste for a show with an otherwise excellent premise.
