woah episode 8 was like plot riveting... it's not surprising, just so impactful the way they revealed that cool plot twist. can this dad also just got to jail or be killed off, bc he has lived for too long....
I’m on episode 13 rn and they’re sooo cute, they all got me giggling sm. Bai Hui’d parents frustrate me…
Same I just finished ep 13 and I'm so annoyed at Bai Hui's parents that I needed to tell someone here on dramalist lol They really need to stop being hyperfixated on their daughter's grades.
omg can anyone confirm if that's an AI song in ep 1 when oh ha na is at the bar and they are waiting for the model...? bc lowkey loving the slow island beat of the song, but can't find it anywhere....
U are definitely not alone. I started this drama when it started airing and today i am at ep14. Lol..
there was definitely a spot in the drama where i was like man, these kids are getting hit with all the bad things in life at once... and now im on ep 17 and things are getting more interesting... and our second lead is gonna make an appearance soon to spice things up lol
I know, a little late to the party. im on ep 11. there was a fire and sending her away for school all in 1 min... do we ever go back to that or are we just gonna let it go that pivotal plot turning points just happened to move the story forward?
Also if it was that easy to find a man like ZLH in the snow and pick up a literal general, take me to a snowy place right now. I'll search for that man LOL
Overall this was a great drama. I love the character development and the humble beginnings of our main couple. The politics of it all was just a bit more complicated for a simpleton like me who is going between 3-5 dramas at the same time lol. But we got through it as I marked who was bad, semi bad, good, semi good and tried to get everyone's last names straight lol (and ofc with help from mydramalist friends LOL).
Deng Kai was like scary good at acting, but his character and his toxicity towards Qian Qian ---> I was not a fan lol. The toxic relationship and the ongoing battle of Qian Qian escaping and being recaptured was just too repetitive.
Our Crown princess and scholar couple was super cute. From their impromptu encounter with the Go Game to student/mentor, to lovey dovey couple was a cute development of their relationship. Glad that she didn't have any serious responsibilities to be married off right away because that would be another side story/hustle.
Which leads me to the puppet emperor.... even though he had few lines, he did a great job esp in the end when he had to act out a kid emperor who lost his mind.
Changning and Baoer are such a cute match esp during the last few mins of the final episode. I do wish we got more screentime of their post war stories and maybe even a glimpse of their part time normal life in Linan, but I was content with the "what if all the bad stuff didn't happen" rendition.
The camera work was amazing and the comedic sketches throughout each episode helped allow some tension to be released. I was not too fond of how FCY had a somewhat airhead character. My experience with LOFG led me to think Chanyu was another version of that character, but Chanyu's "lack of intelligence" was a bit of a turnoff for me. (sorry that sounded a bit mean, but she's smart, but not that bright... **shrug**)
And damn if I can find a man like ZLH in the snow, I would be living in a snowy place rn. LOL
So TLDR, this drama gave me a good model for a strong independent woman and gave me the hugest crush on Zhang Ling He. Period. LOL.
being mid way of ep 40, i didn't realize Qi Min did not meet his end lol he just broke his hand lol
LOL yeah first we think a fall like that would kill the man, but then he is alive in jail, then he drinks the drink, and then i was like for sure he dead now.... then there's one scene of him crying and closing his eyes after Qian Qian left. I was like now can we call his time of death otherwise we might find him in another scene again lol
the politics side of this drama was not for me. Too many characters and confusing houses, I had a difficult time keeping up with who is who and what battles must be won. (it also hard for me as a multi drama watcher). So still, slightly confused about the 5 men eating dinner together in ep 39-40.
From my understanding, there was a bad crooked emperor who didn't want to leave the throne for his righteous son (who was eating at that table). And then XJH's uncle did something to cause a coup and create chaos (with rightful cause) which results in the death and marking of FCY's father as a traitor and the death of his own bro (XJH's dad and ultimately mom). Only by causing this chaos and losing many lives does XJH's uncle bring stability to the land. -> so in a way XJH's uncle had good intentions, but knew he was going down as the bad guy bc of the way he completed the task (?)
Meanwhile the other battle happening on the field was the super toxic Qi Min who I guess was supposed to be the emperor until mom dies and the huge fire happens which causes him to be "fired" (no pun intended) from being the emperor. Throughout the entire drama he desires the throne along with his "empress" YQQ. Together they have a toxic relationship since Qi Min is like absolutely obsessed with her to the bitter end. He basically gets the throne for 5 mins until he dies out of love for YQQ.
In the end FCY and XJH had some history/connections through their parents who were victims of a bad leader. But together they are undeniably endgame woohooo! Did I get something right^?
Love to see her character development! I just started the drama and I'm on ep 7. Like others said, I'm invested. I was also watching 2 other costume dramas so seeing a more realistic drama on my watchlist is nice and refreshing. However, every time she has something good going on, I'm scared that she will return to the present... Can anyone reassure me that this doesn't happen....? It's giving me more anxiety lol

Someone needs to tell her about her husband's true identity, because it might cost them the war. She went full mulan on us here....
