Good people at the crossroads
I really enjoyed this season - I was drawn in from the beginning and was invested in the lives of many of the participants. I finished watching it yesterday and have realised since that many other viewers were critical, finding it boring and being suspicious of the motives of those who joined the show. It makes me wonder if I am too naïve and trusting, but I know at least that I was entertained and the show created a space of comfort and escape from the stresses of my own daily life.
At various points the participants referred to each other and others on the show as "good people", and I had that sense too. I didn't see them as scheming, manipulative players, coming on the show with a preset agenda. The tears and emotions were genuine and I could feel the frustration and bewilderment various cast members faced. I really liked how their different personalities shone through.
The panel and their reactions are also a consistent and enjoyable element of this production, across the three seasons that I have watched.
