Okay, so I have a slightly different take on the whole thing, plus the relationship dynamic between GX and YQL. Sometimes in rom com, when lovers start as friends/colleagues and they have this love-hate thing and the fun banter going on before they get together, I find it hard to adjust to the suddenly changed very affectionate circumstance. I have lost interest many a times due to this. So, I find this exceptionally refreshing. Even though the timing sucks for them, they like each other and do not see dating as the only end-goal of that connection.

Don't know how to feel about it yet. Maybe I will after a couple more episodes. Also, it's been a while last I committed to a Korean drama so yeah. I do think there's some really good and cute arcs. It's watchable but I hope it gets more fun.

Not for me! The story seems all over the place, 15 minutes in and the woman seems to be correcting a certain south Asian lady's pronunciation, while her coworker seems to imply all people from this country are hard to understand because of a certain accented way of talking. Come on, it's 2024 we should have moved ahead long ago. I'm sure this is going to be one of the many things I'll hate if I go down this road. So, I'll save myself the trouble and find something else to watch. Please drop any recommendations if you have any. I have been out of the loop for a while.

She's resisting throughout the whole kiss thing. Her whole-body language screams she doesn't want it. I know this may have little relevance to those who are already enjoying the drama and believe me, I have no intention to spoil it for anyone. However, I find it necessary to talk about it. The kiss was not consensual, but she doesn't necessarily hate it. I am not her, only she can tell whether it was forced or not. But if it was mistreatment of any nature, she would not have behaved the way she did and would have left him. She stayed, so there is every reason to believe there are feelings involved, maybe a little bit of pity as well. Let's talk about XW as well. He said he might be ill, but he was fully aware of what he was doing and didn't feel an ounce of regret the next day he woke up. That doesn't take away the fact that he has severe trauma and has stimulated outbursts of the same. I really like the drama so far; I am not criticizing or anything. If anything, I am a fan. But the whole should have been directed or adapted better, that's all I wanted to say.

now that I'm all caught up, I just want to leave a few comments in regards to Zhang Zhe; I fully understand JXN…
I really love how you broke this down, it's a reincarnation where she's been given a chance to redeem her past life's mistakes. It makes all the sense for her to feel gratitude and love for the guy who was unconditionally kind to her before. To be honest, this drama for me could have gone either way if I hadn't seen all the previews and spoilers of XW and JXN being together. But what I noticed in this life is they haven't got much time together to forge a romantic relationship till now. All I know is Zhang Zhe as a character is very primary to this story. As a couple, I feel XW and JXN has a better chance because of their past and understanding of each other. I don't know, just like them better as a pair.

This is so well written, and perfectly made. I love how we have time with characters' emotions while the larger politics or story arc manifesting gradually. Again, it seeks the possibility of how a life and the ones around it could change if different choices were made. Looking forward to watching the rest of the episodes.

K-thriller and suspense released in this year don't seem to be working for me. But I should definitely find another thriller after this.

I almost started this one but was so let down by the graphics that I couldn't get past the first episode. But you're right, there's every reason to watch it for Chen Zhe yuan.

Couldn't get myself to like the penthouse. It's very drama- drama, almost like a soap opera. Hope you have a good time watching.

Finally completed it. I am so fascinated with the slow life in it. There's so much walking, running, chasing and talking, sometimes gossips and at others meaningful conversations. The characters' world, what kind of life they've led so far comes out during those conversations. I think watching slice of life makes you think of what aspirations really are and how correct are the ideas we have about ourselves. Finding purpose in life whether that's through interpersonal relationships or experiencing five minutes of happiness a day is enough to get by. How do you survive when living gets hard or the so-called winter comes. Everything a person feels is fleeting so you hold it out and seek help until it gets better. Dealing with grief, end of a romantic relationship, choices one's made in the past, resentment for those who wronged you is something that comes from living. It's been a while last I watched something this fulfilling.

We are getting another season right? It's not even an open ending. Wouldn't it have been better if the last five minutes of ep 24 were never shown. Whoever created this gem of a show doesn't seem to be a fan of happy endings. Well, I am not big on happy endings too. But this is too vague, maybe another season could redeem it. Also, what's with no one telling Shangguan Qian that fortnight flies are not poison. Maybe she wouldn't have left then. I really liked her character. Also, dude Shang Jue didn't deserve to be left lovesick like that. If there's common sense and any justice left in the world, we will have another season. Other than that, I have no complaints. This might be hands down the best wuxia drama released in the past two years.
On My Journey to You Sep 5, 2023
okay, so there is lot of unpack here. What I like- the whole spy organization thing they've got going on. We know there's a feud, a very long one at that but have little context or backstory before the actual events occur. We are absolutely living in the moment. No one's a perfect mastermind. I mean they all have some cards up their sleeve but are prone to errors. They get fooled, fool each other and I believe there's no protagonist. The story is just using and discarding characters for its purpose. And I am living for the interactions between those two spy women. SGQ irks you in the worst way possible but she'd the one I am drawn to most as a character. YWS is amazing, smart but intuitive. What I can live without- childish fights between grown-up men. I mean I don't really hate it, but they take a lot of screentime. Hope the synopsis is right and we see some real growth from GZY. I think the poisons are a whole different plot lol. Like who's the next to be killed from being poisoned. Also, it seems the story is written in chapters with each incident taking up one, reminds me of bloody romance a little. A really good and fresh wuxia overall. There's huge potential for a great story. Looking forward to the rest episodes.

How can this be brilliant writing when its clearly an adaptation of the award winning classic movie Gone with…
I think for those who haven't read or watched Gone with the wind, it can be a pathbreaker in k-historical genre, it portrays morally grey characters who are flawed in many ways but still come to love each other. But you're absolutely right, it's certainly a loose adaptation of "Gone with the wind". There's no question about that.

Okay, a lot of mixed feelings about this one. I think it's often not catered or seen enough in love stories that sometimes love comes with conditions. Janghyun is like a fly, isn't he? He hasn't settled anywhere in his life. He himself claims that he belongs to the neither side. Asking someone to leave all she has ever known to move to an unknown place with him is a selfish thought. Now again, one could argue if she loved him enough, she would have gone through it. But that's what she confesses to him in the letter that her love for him isn't that great. We have to remember that she doesn't hold him in high regard, doubts him endlessly and misjudges his intentions. Both of them don't have a clear understanding of each other. In romantic relationships, where conversations lead to "that's what you do" or "you're still the same" signify lack of trust. Also, leaving with him would mean ostracization of her loved ones and family in the society. Her actions could make them miserable forever. That's the best thing about her actually, she stands up for her loved ones. I believe Janghyun's love is crueler and more selfish than her. He wants to be "the only one", doesn't really care for her family. In fact, he loves her more than anyone and often forgets any other existence beside her. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to me that she chooses the other man. Anyway, really excited and looking forward to the second part of this story.
