If the beginning doesn't make sense because of poor subtitles, look at Zii3's review. The second paragraph explains the set-up and world-building with the FL.
I enjoyed that the story was a little like a puzzle; it kept me engaged. I felt there was enough info given to make enough sense to follow, and to make guesses, and the story kept filling in the blanks all throughout. By the end every question is answered. Great acting too.
Thank you for explaining more about the FL and about the dynamic between the lead characters. I couldn't tell from the mixed reviews, synopsis, and significant age gap if I should give this a try or not, but now I think I will!
Agreed! Nail at the beginning hooked me quickly and then the screenplay fell apart. I dropped after Ep 6. Glad to know I made the right choice and didn't miss a screenplay redemption!
YES! If Off and Gun weren't in this series I wouldn't find it worth my time to watch at all! I am disappointed they weren't given something with more complexity to work with. I understand they wanted to try something different but they deserve better material, even for a romantic comedy.
Thank you for your suggestion- I started Ep 6 out of curiosity but quickly saw it falling apart and stopped watching. I'm happy with the episode 5 ending and don't have to risk getting annoyed with the story and wasting my time :)
Thank you for explaining some of the disturbing things done to Anda in this series! I dislike when those kinds of dynamics and actions are romanticized. I really enjoyed the manga and Japanese movie, apart from the non-consent sleep kissing scene, because they were whimsical and made me chuckle a lot. Based on what you've said here I know not to waste my time watching this adaptation.👍
Thank you for writing this! I had initially dropped the series after episode 3 but your review got me interested in how things played out for Amber. As you say, it was insightful, emotional, and satisfying and I'm now really glad I watched the whole thing!
I really loved the lead actors together but totally agree that the script and plot got more and more irritating! It was hard for me to enjoy the end because of that.
Finally, a review that brings up all the issues that kept me from getting sucked-in and fully enjoying it! I think it got a little better in episodes 9-11, but the last one felt rushed and not very satisfying.
I also really liked your paragraph on "huge lack of self-preservation instincts", I couldn't agree more!
