I also think that she must be his mother. I had this thought since some episodes ago (and there was the lullaby's part), but after seeing some character like the maid or the captain of the ex-NightWatchmen recognising her (when he bows to her), I think she is Rin's Mother.
Maybe she can't say who she is like the captain of the ex-NightWatchmen can't fight ghosts anymore...?
