HERE i am yet again....aghhhhh Thyme baby i miss youuuuuuuuu!!!!
He is my favourite character and Male Lead of all time! I wish for a movie sequel at least! To see how it is going for Thyme & Gorya and rest of the F4. I also wonder what plans Gorya has for her future now that she has graduated a elite school like Kocher? Maybe become a businesswoman herself? She seemed to have a knack for it in ep 15!
I am currently on Episode 8 and OHMYGOD. HOW LONG IS THIT GOING TO DRAG THIS FILTHY ATTITUDE OF HIS??!!!!! I AM…
Hey, this is slap-kiss first and foremost of all. Slap-kiss lakhorns are always this way. They are dark, toxic and destructive, ML always tries to control and possess the female lead, both mentally and psychically.
This genre is controversial and not for everyone. I understand why you did not enjoy it.
The romance in this one is slow-burn but soooooo good in the way that you feel them developing this care, trust and respect for each other as individuals. I love how the ML saw her so far away from him, like the untouched sky. He never wanted to possess her...but he was fine with loving her from afar.
In some ways i wonder what would have happened if Tu hadn`t got the role of Gorya....i just CAN`T imagine anyone else playing this amazing heroine!
She is so mentally strong and comes to really care for the people she gets close to. She even give forgiveness to her worst enemies, especially her husband-to-be Thyme in ep 3, she had seen his true self in the airport when Thyme got emotional about Ren leaving...she was looking at Thyme jumping and waving at the plane Ren was in...her heart realized that Thyme wasn`t a monstrous bully in his true form. Therefore she even gave him the chance, she went on that date with him.
Chile, you need to take a break for a week. You sound delusional and obsessive. Telling folks what to watch, based…
I just LOVE your comment about how the enemies to lovers trope is a fairy tale and is not supposed to be realistic.
But it is not only the tropes that makes it like a fairy tale. There are so many more things to consider. All the symbolism, metaphors of flowers, stars, chessboard...it all come together so fine in a very fantasy kind of way.
"The Footprint of a Meteor", "The Glass Mask", "The Tulip Mania".....all the episodes are so symbolically related to these titles. It is amazing way of story telling.
I remember Ren once saying in "The Incident of 1%"
"There are no stars in the sky"
It is such a prophetic kind of moment, almost paranormal. One of my favourite interpretation of this sentence is that all the God`s sons are in hiding. (Planning their move to gain power of the throne since the King died in a mythological perspective).
In a realistic sense i love how this show speaks against capitalism and is very anti patriarchal.
There is just...so much to cover. I am blown away.
I completely agree on some of your points. Gorya's lack of character development. The lack of romance. The "different…
I was not saying that Gorya being in high-school was unique in any way, it speaks to her lack of knowledge and experience in the business world.
Your other point is intersting..you say that HYD FL is smarter and tougher than getting manipulated by Rosalyn? That is up for a long discussion and different opinions.
I have read the manga and watched all the versions. I know this story inside and out since it covered almost my whole child-hood. Would Makino, Shancai and Jandi really call out on Rosalyn`s bullshit of being a dying mother? Would she really not get convinced that it is better for Thyme to turn to his older self?
HYD FL is smart and tough, i do agree with you on that. But she is also so incredibly flawed, self-sacrifising and easily becomes the victim of manipulation from many characters she meets throughout her journey. She is human after all. I love her either way.

I can understand if you get a bit confused by the reason of this conflict in ep 14. When Gorya runs to Rosalyn, her mind was already set on giving in to Rosalyn. She says it herself to her, that she will break up with him if Rosalyn leaves all her friends alone.
But for Rosalyn that is simply not enough. Rosalyn knows that even if Gorya gives up, Thyme won`t. Thyme will still try to find ways to be with Gorya. He has changed too much from the little Monster she brought him up as. She needs the ruthless person he was, she wants him to dominate. In this case Rosalyn is a product of her own environment. She thinks the only way to succeed is to dominate (which is also a form of violence).
That`s why she uses her last step, which is the Death Card. She manipulates Gorya into letting her think that she is a dying mother. In Gorya`s mind. Death is not something you can fight against, and she easily feels empathy for her. Then we have Rosalyn explaining and therefore persuading Gorya that Thyme lives through his "rose-colored glassess" and is naive to the adult ruthless business world. He needs to be strong and he needs to dominate. The old him who took down enemies (through the red card) is needed because you can so easily control through fear.
We also forget that Gorya has not finished high-school. She is still a teenager and knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the business world. She only knows what she have been told. Rosalyn succeeds with her goal. The Queen sacrifices herself for everyone else in the Chessboard.
Gorya`s character developement has been done in a very interesting way because it is NOT done the same with Thyme`s character developement. Thyme needed to get through a lot of things to understand many things so he could change.
The scene where she doubts herself in the last ep is so relateable. She have always wanted to succeed, always move forward. But then F4 appears in the stadium and she turns around to look at them...thats where she knows. She have changed. She have grown. She is more open, more aware and more understanding of things she didn`t get at the beginning. She have learned to lean on someone. She is her true self after everything she has been through and she knows, as well as us viewers that she will go so far in the future. I mean come on, she is from a poor background and she still got into a elite school like Kocher and this is in the beginning. This girl is special.
One of the things i truly prize with this version is the way Thyme faces his past victims. He doesn`t judge them, nor does he look down at them with disgust like his character does in the former versions. He knows he has no right to judge them because he knows he is no better than them.
He was the monster who started the Red Card..in being that monster and building that horrible system he was bound to create some monsters himself in the forms of his minions and past-victims who wanted revenge on him. Thyme understood that.
WITHOUT A DOUBT. THIS IS THE BEST VERSION IN THE WHOLE BOF SAGA. I am stunned. How the hell will i ever move on!!!
Bright is a terrific Thyme. This guy owns my heart with how great of a character he is. He is so strong, brave, loyal and extra...being Gorya`s enemy, turning to her smitten pursuer to a mature lover. His character developement is fascinating!
I would love to be Gorya`s friend! Tontawan did a great job in her portrayal! She showed Gorya`s dedicated, strong and vulnerable sides so well. Most important of all-allowing her to be flawed. I want to hug this girl, ahhhhh
MJ also shines through so well in this version. He have his own demons and responsibilities but are so caring to his friends, F4 are everything to him, awwww want to give him a hug also!

That is called true love.
Whereas i rate thai version a full 10 stars!

Even at his most innocent, he still is able to show his love in such a grand way.
