Best drama in year 2022. Was obsessed with this one and so glad later when i saw that Turkey had made a drama inspired by THIS version of F4 with the title "Hear me".
Kanat & Ekim are way more angstier than Thyme & Gorya, but sexy all the same.
This is a masterpiece and i keep coming back to this.
To all the moments Thyme followed Gorya around, to his crazy way of asking her out, to his way of making her smile...and all the ways she made him smile. The future wife that kicked him, the shooting star that fell on him.
Thyme & Gorya forever. Bright and Tu are the perfect matchups for this iconic couple.I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!
Mark and Kim engaged? Happy for them! I can't imagine if they ever break up.
All these are rumors, we have no idea what actually happened.
One thing i know for sure is when reporters asked Nadech & Yaya if they knew that Mark & Kim are dating Yaya & Nadech looked at each other and smiled, both answered: "Its about time"
You manage to steal my heart everytime, You did it as the original Anti-hero/villain in the manga-series. Then you stole my heart even harder in all the asian adaptations.
Thyme is a cursed beast destined to transform. His quiet pain took my breath away and his steel of resolve shook me even harder. He hated her, which is a she that inprinted herself on him. But then she also opened up his eyes that had been blind for so long, then melted his heart that had been cold for so long. He never knew he punished the girl destined to become his future wife.
His smile eventually belonged to her, then all his thoughts...were of her. He is the one guy who chased blindly after her with his heart in his eyes, letting no class, no type of obstacle come his way. The cursed Black Rose needed to transform into a Red Rose, therefore he needed seeds of Grass to send that light onto him, that hope of love.
She is his one Shooting Star, his one hope of love...its always her, it will always be her. No one loves her like he does, nor will it ever be. Not like the way he does. The boy who waited in the rain, the boy who fought for her even when her heart belonged to another...the boy who fell over and over because of her...the boy who eventually gives away his own soul for her.
My my, what a star she is to him. Everytime, in every life, its always about them. Always.
What actually makes Mark & Yaya such good co-stars to me is that they have NONE of the romantic chemistry off-screen. In real life when i watch their interviews (ever since 2010) they look like and treat each other like siblings...but once they get into their roles THEIR CHEMISTRY JUST EXPLODES!
I definitely agree with Elena. Thai version is a whole another level despite only having 16 episodes. Bright`s portrayal of Tsukasa is dark and raw, having a touch of loneliness and pain in him.
Also the amount of symbolism put into this version is also astounding in a very good way. I mean, all the Four Flowers even have their own flowers that symbolizes their personalities. I recommend also checking out thai version for sure, its something special.
I also can't get over the fact sometimes that how can people ignore Gorya's pain, like all of the pain she went…
Okay. Even in the beginning, it is clear that Ren felt something for Gorya. It was not love, but it was something. Even Mira picked up on it. It is over time, throughout the episodes that Ren fell in love with Gorya. It is a process, and it is THAT process that was much longer. We viewers see the process slowly unfold until almost the end in this drama.
You may not agree with me on that one either. Its alright.
However you have a big point on the second male lead syndrome where the obsession of their feelings really actually is more cared for. I totally agree on that. "The Heirs" is a great example of that in my opinion.
I also can't get over the fact sometimes that how can people ignore Gorya's pain, like all of the pain she went…
In what way do you mean "don`t care" that Gorya got unrequited love for Ren? I just don`t see why we should feel sorry for her when we know who the endgame really is.
This drama has 16 episodes in total. By ep 6 we see Gorya clearly getting her closure with her relationship with Ren in the rooftop at end of ep 6. We may agree to disagree, but that conversation really showed how Gorya stopped seeing Ren in that romantic light.
Great review, happy you enjoyed this version despite not liking the former versions. Thyme is my favourite character as well. Bright nailed this controversial Anti-hero so well.
I also can't get over the fact sometimes that how can people ignore Gorya's pain, like all of the pain she went…
When you say Gorya`s pain in her unrequited love for Ren, its mostly high-lighted in ep 3 before he leaves for Mira. She makes the choice in giving up on him for him to find happiness with the person he loves.
I remember watching that episode the day it aired. No one ignored Gorya`s pain in that episode. Viewers understood that if Ren had it in him to love and choose Gorya during that time, maybe they would be endgame. Maybe it could have been them in the long run.
But then all of us know how the story goes. All of us know that Thyme is there, waiting in the shadows. He knows fully that Gorya is in love with Ren, he knows also that it is unrequited. Ep 3 ends with Thyme still waiting in the rain for her. All viewers know THAT is the next important step in Gorya`s journey.
I mean, why look for a boy who wants another girl when there is THIS boy who is waiting for you in the rain?
Why people feel more for Ren`s unrequited love for Gorya is because it went on for such a long time. Unlike Gorya who instantly found herself crusing on him the moment he saved her in ep 1 Ren falls gradually and slowly in love with her.
Gorya fell for Ren`s "white knight" persona. But Ren learned to love all aspects of Gorya which we see in his writings of her. He loved her for her kindness, spirit and charm. We see more of Ren`s love for her than we see Gorya`s love for Ren. At least we knew Gorya would soon move on, therefore we had hope for her.
But then we know that we won`t see Ren move on (although he will certainly find his true love someday) . We always see him loving Gorya selflessly, ready to be whatever she needs him to be.
I was watching F4 Thailand again (like for the 50th time) and really looked into Gorya`s journey of falling in love with Thyme...she never was indifferent to him and that says a lot already from ep 1. She did not love nor care for him, but she completely hated him by the end of ep 1.
She also definitely felt something for him when the accident kiss happened with Thyme, i mean... who wouldn`t??? She felt shocked...and clearly did NOT dislike the kiss hahhahha!
Then in ep 3 there is this moment where she looks at Thyme from afar, watching him jump up and down waving at a travelling Ren. Its Thyme she is gazing at, realizing that the "Notorious and Fearsome" F4 also are humans with human feelings like care and affection and vulnerability like how she saw Thyme not trying to cry over Ren leaving.
In ep 4 a leap of the magic fate happens. Like in all the other versions Gorya refuses to even go and see Thyme, but hearing his speech on TV and seeing the heavy rain, she probably thinks at this point: "No, he wouldn`t wait. He can`t be that stupid. It can`t be".
Her heart tells her to run to him, its an irresistible force she cannot deny. That`s the magic. We see Thyme execuding his innocent but charismatic charm on Gorya throughout ep 4. He infuriates and frustrates her, but there is this certain quality Gorya finds likable within him. We see it in her smiling at his childish nonsense and cute behaviour.
They truly bond and connect under the staircase, spending the whole night together. Neither of them truly trust each other, but they still open up for each other and talks about themselves. Especially Thyme who really tells her how lonely he actually is. (this also happens in the manga, where FL first time ever truly weakens for him)
Gorya`s startling attraction to Thyme is very visible when Thyme drops her off the next day by her house. I mean come on THEY WERE FLIRTING! So darn cuteeee!!!
But the moment where Gorya TRULY fell in love with Thyme, must be in the scene where he saves her from the bullies in ep 5. That`s the moment where she TRULY starts to love him with her heart, mind and soul.
She didn`t expect him to come. He came anyway and takes her in his arms and gives her the words she desperately needed to hear. That he believes in her. She falls apart in his arms, but without her knowing, her heart fell as well.
Pleasee i am begging you to not let this be a toxic slap-kiss like Kluen Cheewit! Make some room for true romance about true love instead of Male Lead making her suffer like he did in Kluen Cheewit! That stuff was so hard to stomach. Mark & Yaya have amazing chemistry so i am really excited for this one.
this show is killin me!!!!
How i both laughed and cried...its to much folks!!

A Love Letter to Mr Thyme Akira.
But its still okay to check it out for viewers who have not seen it yet.
It has reached great sucess in Asia after all, they are even having a concert in Japan soon.
That to me is natural talent.
Also the amount of symbolism put into this version is also astounding in a very good way. I mean, all the Four Flowers even have their own flowers that symbolizes their personalities. I recommend also checking out thai version for sure, its something special.

Ren finally got his closure in ep 15.
I remember watching that episode the day it aired. No one ignored Gorya`s pain in that episode. Viewers understood that if Ren had it in him to love and choose Gorya during that time, maybe they would be endgame. Maybe it could have been them in the long run.

Still in the end, i am happy and satisfied in the belief that he will find his true love someday. He will get over Gorya like he got over Mira.
Totally love the Male Lead, he was badass!
She also definitely felt something for him when the accident kiss happened with Thyme, i mean... who wouldn`t??? She felt shocked...and clearly did NOT dislike the kiss hahhahha!
