I don't know how you can make a Kdrama where all the secondary characters get their happy endings and the leads just accept they aren't meant to be together in life?!? Ugh.

I know this is the reality of life but the last couple of episodes...I felt let down that they left so much vagueness despite finding the last diary. Never seeing the husband and father of Heedo's daughter...I understand that was part of the suspense. All the things that get tied up so neatly with the parents and financial issues but the main thread just hangs there.

The whole reminiscing bit, the last scene where ML is saying he hasn't logged on to this computer service at work for 15 years (now back after so much time) and the password is the name of his first love...okay. 😞 This is the takeaway?

Obviously, I'm not connecting with real message here, that most people who follow their dreams without compromising will let go of their first love as they change when experiencing personal growth. It was what it was supposed to be. This was just a phase for them, life moves on.

List Rewrite the Ending? Spoiler
Till the End of the Moon is an epic drama that I still revisit and rewatch. Love the chemistry between FL and ML. "Remember why you came," Li Susu reminds herself and I use that sentence to ground myself when I seem to lose focus. Just wish this drama had a less ambiguous ending! I understand that to save everyone the Devil God had to sacrifice himself but what does it mean when they show you TantaiJin in the heart protecting scale at the very end? (And that graphic was yuck!) He repaired the scale and it belonged to him in the bore life, so through that artifact he's still with Li Susu his child in spirit? That's not enough for me, he definitely deserves more after swimming through acid water for 500 years searching for her soul. I want to believe that in a thousand or ten thousand years he can be reborn and find his way back to her.

Rise of the Phoenixes, the "thorn in your side" relationship between the ML and FL needed to stay that way to the very end. Mr. tailor and his little raccoon. The way they ended this for FL who spent nearly half the series as "male" in disguise goes against what I felt was true to the character. Her explanation of "there were too many losses for them to be together" may have been true at that exact moment in time but leaving everyone who loved her, especially Nanyi ("Where you go, there I am") that had stayed by her and going "out on her own terms" off a cliff was against the character's true grain. Her ending lacked a sense of rightness. I agreed with the former emperor when he called the FL "Wei Zhi" and said denying that part of her was still this person was wrong. Don't have a female disguise herself as male for freedom or safety then shed her male identity like it's nothing but an old skin and be ultra fem. When NingYi said "I want you for all of this lifetime, all your lifetimes. I want you in the imperial harem," to FengZhiwei she seems to deflate at the lack of choices, rightfully discontent at being reduced to a reproductive womb. Instead of seemingly being passive and willing to capitulate, she should have said, "Not in this lifetime, Bìxià. Must you be just like your father who locked your mother away? Now, why don't you ask what I want for a change? I want to continue on as Imperial Inspector." This position, or any that would allow her to use her Ultimate Scholar title and intellect for the good of the country would have made much more sense. Here you could see her taking him to task for not following the light in his heart, the vision he had for a new "fair to all" world regardless of status.

If My Journey to You was planning to have a second season, I'd have no complaints. Love the darkness and mysterious feel of this drama. As it stands now, the plotlines wrap-up done in episode 23 points to that being a better series end point. Wish I'd known to stop watching there! Episode 24, the final, opens several brand new cans of plotline worms. Still laughing about the web article that mentions Wufeng as a matchmaking service for the Gong family men! The last scene where the FL sees her twin, and the mysterious watcher we're meant to think is the leader of Wufeng seems like a bad dream. Shame on whoever decided it was alright to leave the poor ML sitting on the steps waiting forever. And what about Second lead couple, Gong future wife and Wufeng Mei? Her "bun in the oven" reveal was kind of expected after the steamy bath scene, but him just letting her go on her own for revenge? Nope, not in a million years. He'd definitely go with, and so would his brother! If this is really the ending, I'm irritated and unsatisfied. Please give us a second season!
