…So yet another supposed detective drama hijacked by romance. Granted I kinda figured this at the halfway point…
Yeah, I didn't like the romance in this, but that's okay haha. I usually LOVE LOVE historical detective dramas, and sometimes modern ones as well, but this wasn't for me. The plot and how everything turned out was just a little confusing. Yuan Ya Lin, for example, appears halfway in the eps through Season 1 and the male lead falls in love with her suddenly. It's just so perplexing. I usually enjoy romance and detective dramas (as I am a big fan of both), but this was not what I was expecting... A lot of ppl said they liked Ancient Detective so im gonna check it out haha~ It does say it has romance in Ancient Detective soooooooooooooooo IM EXCITED! Hopefully it will be better than this.

So, I finished the drama and I HATE IT! BUT IT'S THE ROMANCE PART THAT I HATE! IT APPEARED AS IF THE ROLES WERE CHANGED! It was as if Yuan Ya Lin had taken over the main role/female lead from Ouyang Chu Chu! ALL THE TRAILER, PHOTOS, AND COUPLE EPS IN THE DRAMA THAT I HAD FINISHED WATCHING HAD ME THINKING Chu Chu and Cheng Yang WERE GOING TO BE THE FIRST COUPLE but I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG! Chu Chu's love was only one-sided! At first, I thought Cheng Yang might fall in love later on, but NO! Cheng Yang was head over heels in love with Yuan Ya Lin!! Yes, Chu Chu was clingy, but I still adored her; she was intelligent in her own ways, and I genuinely feel bad for her! She DID die at the end! I'M LITERALLY SO DISAPPOINTED RN LIKE THIS DRAMA IS SUCH A WASTE OF MY TIME, IN MY OPINION! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the plot and everything else because I enjoy detective dramas, but I HATE HATE HATED THE ROMANCE IN THIS! EVEN THE FINAL SCENE! I was hoping Cheng Yang would fall in love with Chu Chu, but it never happened! Chu Chu had something to say to him at the end, but she never got the chance... I was so excited to ship them two(Chu Chu and Cheng Yang)! Yuan Ya Lin and Cheng Yang were not a bad couple, but it just didn't sit right with me! You don't just show me trailers and photos of Chu Chu and Cheng Yang together and then not being an actual couple!!! LITERALLY THE DRAMA'S COVER AND ALL THE PHOTOS OF THIS DRAMA THAT WERE POSTED DID NOT SHOW Yuan Ya Lin AT ALL! The photos posted all showed Cheng Yang and Chu Chu in lovey-dovey mode, but I was mistaken. WRONG WRONG WRONG ! This romance section for the first couple is so perplexing! It had me saying, srsly? I guess it was a bittersweet ending... At least the second couple Jun Wu Gui and Su Wen Yue got together(Im happy abt that)!
