I think my hope of a happy ending is slowly diminishing. At this point up until ep 40, the couple that I ship do not sail anywhere. The ship tosses away by the waves and looses its direction. I think the writer just play with our emotion. Unlike other 54 episodes drama with a romantic exchange which only blossom in the middle of series, this GBMP drama started at the very early stage. We were excite with a great appetizer of romance. Now at almost after finishing the 3 quarter, there is still no light of hope that it will go back to where it started. I doubt the memory of 5th prince will return any soon. Still waiting for a moment of truth.....

I found both the two leads are amazing in their acting even though being rookies. I especially captivated with CXX acting. Unlike other characters in this drama, his character as the 5th Prince has a clear development. He successfully portray a vibrant, fun and lively young prince with a boyishly adorable smile. But he can turn into a cold, careful, scheming and calculating Crown Prince.

I do agree with your thoughts. But in my wildest crazy thought, my answer for the 3rd questions will be both of them fall again into the river of forgetfulness and starts their 3rd lives together.....

I do not care how others say about the ending or how cruel is the ML towards the FL, I ship them hard, ship them strong. Yes it seems that love do not conquer all; there are other things that can come in between. Their position as royalties and the political game that they have to play in order to survive make them fools . Both of them are the victims; FL for being innocent, and ML for being ignorant.

Unconsciously attracted again as a different person, enough to prove that there is a strong love exist between them. I may sound too romantic, unrealistic or idealistic, but this drama is all about those theme anyway. And what makes this drama interesting is the thrilled of falling for a same person, whom he does not recognized, whom he had hurt badly, who was his wife once. Not only that, he did not remember his own crime. Besides the plot, I love the two leads. Their acting are simply captivating. You can practically see the mood transmitted in their facial expression and body language.

At this point I wonder how the story goes. Why does it take so long for the ML to discover the truth, what make others keep the secret from him, will it be too late when he realize it? Will it be time to reconcile? Would it better if the they found out about each other early? Or would it be even worse?
Arghhh…..all these will be answer little by little until the end of April.

I love the ML. I think what he did was due to his unclear mind about the death of his mom and brother. He was not aware of the political scheming of the other princes and generals behind his back.

All I can say is that it gives the same vibes when watching The King's Woman. The story may be predictable, the plot and setting are nothing new. But what captivate me the most are the main couple. The ML has this unique look; a combination of serious, compassionate and lovable. While the FL is vibrant, energetic, sweet and adorable. This is another great couple with an amazing chemistry. Their love story has a dynamic attraction from the very beginning; and the story of the imperial power struggle simply evolves around them and follow through.

Regardless of the ending, this drama is surely not to be missed. It is so intriguing. A lot of expression and emotion being displayed. Outstanding performance of the two leading roles by extraordinary actor/actress. Amazing chemistry between them. The best acting and most striking character is Chen Kun as Nang Yi. He can look eccentric, funny, sexy, good looking, scary, lovable, adorable, caring and sad all in the same character. I really admire and love his acting in here.The cinematography, costumes, props are all well thought of.

in my opinion, it is not an issue as he never have known or met them before, his brother is already dead by the time he met her, and it is his brother will/edict for him to take his place as an emperor and husband.

Anyway, if you put it aside, you would have find this drama is very good and not to be missed.

Me too. I think that after I have immersed and engaged myself with their compassionate love story from the very beginning of ep 1 till 50s, the few episodes towards the end seems lacking. They should have shown a few scenes of their longings during separation to enhance the main reason of his abdication. Argh... still can get over this drama.

I try my best not to give you too much spoiler here..... The love of the emperor and empress is so strong that it stays intact together till the end even they have to separate for a while. As for the second couple , honor and dignity become the choice to TY. The friendship of the brothers is surely tested, but with trust it still remain unchanged.

It depends on which perspective you look at it and what matters the most. As my personal 'interest', it is a happy ending. It is always that one has to lose some in order to win some. Have to watch till the end.

Just finished this drama. It was one awesome drama that is complete with all the spices... action, drama, romance, politics, friendship, brotherhood etc. What I love most is the romance part of the empress and emperor, they have such a great chemistry. Their love connect since the day one they met and blossom till the end. It was absolute and resolute. Other than that, the story of power struggle among feudal lords, strategist and imperial family that all revolve around them (emperor and empress) and the secret that they protect. One of my favorites. Love it.

So far watching half way through the whole series I would say it is awesome. Almost as good as NIF, but having its own nature of portraying a political struggle of an imperial dynasty. It offers both romance and bromance equally strong. What excite me the most is the character of the empress, her acting is so prominent. The actress choice is perfect and she does it so well. Still waiting for the subbed episodes till the ending. Hope for a happily ever after ending.
