Of course, that’s why I am saying this, there’s so many wrong things in every culture, in mine too, I also criticize it, don’t think I don’t do it just because it is my own , as you said it before whats wrong is wrong and what is right is right, and what those mothers do their children is just heartbreaking. I am aware of the amount of the pressure asian people suffer from societal standards and prejudice ( highest rates of suicide in the world) and it just saddens me to my core. 💔. But yes, every society has its problems unfortunately, and all have to be solved.

China is a patriarchal country ( heavily) but depending on the household, many women have a strong personality and a very good relationship with their husbands and they are the ones making decisions as well as their husbands. Women wouldn’t have been able to gain as many rights as they have in china ( and other countries) if they didn’t have allies in their husbands either!

Something can be part of a culture and that doesn’t make it right, and doesn’t mean that has to be respected. This is an example of that, to judge people based on background and social status and age is very discriminatory and creates a lot of prejudices and social pressure, that’s NEVER a good thing and I would never respect that.
In this case as you say his mothers rejection is the opposite of sane, it’s completely out of proportion, she is basically projecting her own insecurities and kicking her own son out of her home because she doesn’t approve the woman HE LOVES, just because she is more successful and has more money than him . Talking about being a terrible mother am I right? 🥴 These characters are really frustrating, really.

Maybe you have to like EVERYTHING about a drama or you will drop it but im not like that, i will feel a lot of different emotions watching a drama or reading a book and a can hate it and love it at the same time many times. I will praise it and rant about it too, obviously, because that’s what I do and because we all can feel safe here amongst drama lovers and discuss our favorite dramas. So thank you for your suggestion, but I will continue enjoying the drama and getting frustrated by it as well! Happy watching!

@XiaoDna Don’t assume what my expectations are, I have read the synopsis, yes😃. Its not a realistic drama for me although I understand where you are coming from. But I can’t comprehend how excruciatingly slow the development of the characters is . This is why i guess my expectations got crushed. Over and over in every episode the conversations are a bit the same thing. He just keeps referencing that same moment he lived 10 years ago, and she keeps shutting him down. There’s no real conversation between them. No depth or emotion. I know it’s starting to change now but it took 30 episodes. I love the amazing potential this one has but i feel they have filled it with too many unimportant scenes , leaving us craving more….
I would have preferred if this drama was 25 episodes and without the hockey couple + uncle.
Everytime i see those three people in the screen I swear my anxiety goes to the roof, what stupidity and useless characters, and so annoying too!!! Not even connected to the story at all!!

I am enjoying it a lot, and i am also very frustrated at some parts too, hence my original comment.
