Yโall , am I really going to get this app and pay for this express package???? I am a full grown ass woman with no patience to wait for the next 3 episodes ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ ๐๐๐๐๐
But it was a lazy catalyst - that's the objection. Rather than have it organic to the two characters, it was dropped…
I think it was a replacement of the storyline in the book which was more expedient given the gangster storyline was already baked in . In the book the catalyst was a car accident where Yuan protected Qian at the risk of his own life .
Another great episode Chris and Kurt are knocking it out of the park. I loved the opening scene because I think it explained Qianโs purpose perfectly โฆ if the world was ending , he would hold it up for them โฆ. And even at such a young age , Yuan replied , I would help you hold it up. It encapsulates their relationship for me. The anguish portrayed by Qian during the Russian roulette scene was masterful, you felt that . I know a lot of people thought this part was not needed but it was a catalyst to move Qian. And Le โฆ I thought his interaction with Qian was interesting as well , He low key likes the brothers , and especially Qian because he is a ride or die loyal guy. He admires the bond they have. The hug was great but that last scene was so meaningfulโฆ Yuan saying that his whole life came down to 2 words and Qian admitting that HE was running away when he sent Yuan away , and questioning. How he would have felt if lost Yuan . This shows dialogue is amazing .
This story just has me captivated. I know there are many opinions about this weeks episode but I think it is really well written . the dialogue is continually offering insight on Qianโs evolution.
This was the episode in which Qian becomes an โempty nesterโ per se. Every parent with adult kids understands this time in their lives where if you have done a good job your kids have grown up and no longer needs you in the same way and the purpose and focus of your life inevitably changes.
Itโs the time you have to reevaluate whatโs next for you. What makes you happy and what will bring you fulfillment as you move away from your primary care giver role. Qian, more than most, assumed the role of care giver, parent and protector as such a young age. A man emotionally stunted and who suppressed his trauma while caring for Yuan and Lili.
The Lili/ San Pang relationship made sense to me from a storyline perspective. I donโt think it was happening at the same time frame frame as Yuanโs confession but rather in the time Yuan was abroad. In my opinion it was insightful when confronted Lili tells Qian that San Pang has always taken care of her and has always been good to her. Well, havenโt Qian and Yuan been the same? As the rest of the family continues its normal progression it is time for Qian. Has Qian ever really thought of himself? Has he ever shown himself any grace? Has he ever thought of what would make HIM happy? The answer is no. I am looking forward to Qian becoming more selfish and find fulfillment in his life because he deserves it .

๐๐๐Poor Qian โฆ.. he is about to GO Through IT!!!! Yuan is not going to have to do anything . Just his mere presence has Qian all jacked up ๐๐
I agree, it would not be a part of his character thus far to purposely hurt Qian. I do think the time away has helped him accept that itโs not going to happen thatโs why we have heard in the preview that as long as the person he loves is happy but near him that he would be happy with that . There is an acceptance of himself and his relationship that came with the time apart
It felt incredibly short. I would also like to know ๐ค
On the thread here someone posted a translation of the texts that Yuan sent Qian and it does a good job of giving us a time line and what Yuan was doing his time away , sooty that I canโt recall the user but it posted yesterday
