K-Drama A Promising Start That Lost Its Way
Honestly, Spring of the Blade was a drama that started with a lot of potential but gradually lost its way.
The beginning was actually quite promising. The premise was interesting, the setup had potential, and I was genuinely curious to see where the story would go. But somewhere around the middle, things started going downhill. The plot became increasingly messy, and by the final stretch, it felt like the drama was throwing too many things at once without properly tying them together.
By the end, the plot was all over the place, and the final arc especially felt disappointing. Considering how strong and intriguing the premise was, I expected the conclusion to deliver something much bigger. Instead, it felt rather lackluster compared to what the story had initially promised.
So why did I finish it?
Xu Kai and Zhou Ye. 😭
Their chemistry was genuinely good, and their interactions were easily one of the strongest parts of the drama for me. They brought enough charm and emotional weight to their scenes that I kept watching even when the story itself was starting to lose me.
Unfortunately, the drama just didn't have that X factor that makes you completely invested in the story itself. If the leads hadn't been this enjoyable to watch, I honestly don't know if I would've made it to the end.
Overall, Spring of the Blade had a promising start, a great pair of leads, and good chemistry, but the storytelling gradually became too messy, and the ending failed to live up to the premise.
