I just started watching this show for Yuning and GOD he looks so innocent and naive and lovable! 🥰 Only if he had dubbed his own character.... And once again I hate the female lead. She claims to be fighting for THE PEOPLE but she ruthlessly hurt people, betray people, ignore people and abuse people. Who are those PEOPLE she claims to be fighting for if not people like Qian and Feng?!!
Will we get real anwers at the end of the show or will we be keft hanging in the air? I just watched Ultimate Note and I am very disappointed at the ambiguous ending and the web of mysteries none of which gets solved in it.
Don't watch for answers. You will get none. Actually you will get more confused and face more mysteries than before. I guess they meant to produce a second season but they couldn't.
The only thing I've liked about this series till now is the comical relief Mr. Black and Mr. Flowery bring to the show. Everything else is wormy snaky corpsy disgusting and unacceptably ambiguous. No answers, more questions.
I watched Heroes for Liu Yuning as well but I am not as dissatisfied with his character as you are. And let me tell you, the Bai Cho Fei in the book, is much darker and much more evil than the his cinematic version. In the show, we can see the reason behind him changing; the torture, the betrayal, the drugs. He sacrifices himself for the house but Su Mengzheng leaves him alone in the dungeons to be tortured and drugged for a long time. After feeling betrayed by Mengzhen and getting half mad because of the drugs, he changes side. In the book, he becomes evil without any apparent reason. In the book, Mengzheng loses one of his legs and his health when kill Quan Qi and Cho Fei becomes the real manager of the house. Yet he plots to get rid of Xia xi and sends him to assassinate Lord Zhuge. At least here we had a reason for his evil deeds. And I really enjoyed Yuning's acting as a villain. He was great.
I am half through the show and I know even less than I knew at the beginning. So after 17 eps and passing through the desert and the jungle and the snakes and finally getting to the real palace of the evil queen and finding the source of her forever youth, Ven Jin and Zhang went inside and then what?!!!!!!!! Zhang lost his memory once again and Ven Jin stayed inside to live forever?! That's it. The queen Woo Shie saw in the meteor, did not look sane at all. So all the past 17 eps did not bring any answers to the viewers. Is it the same in the book? Or is the adaptation not well written? 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
I don't think he did. Him finding that bag, IMO, is more an indication of their fate/future ties to each other.…
Hao Do is the adopted son of minister Duo who is the main advisor of then Prince Li Shi Min and the official in charge of the Intelligence organization in the ministry of war. So he must be familiar with everyone in the court since Li Shi Min and his men had been planning the coup together. But about Leyan knowing Hao Do, she probably didn't since she was not the daughter of the crown prince and probably didn't even live on the main palace.

Yes, Changge was there, too. But Changge's personality and demeanour do not align with such irems. 😉 She is more like sword fighting, horse riding, soccer type of girl. 😁 But details such as this are sometimes edited out to keep the time frame.
I wasn't expecting such a tragic ending but Heavens be praised Yuning acts so naturally. He has full control over his facial expressions, the flow of his feelings, his body language, his eyes, his voice and his breathing. A born talent well trained. Bravo!
Respect!
