Hi, thank you for your comment! Yeah I get it. I just think because they propped her up to be such an epic character I was extremely let down. I love a story about a strong or bad ass female lead it is what lead me here. I think my review is coming off as if the romance was my main priority but it wasn't. However, it was what took up a lot of the story's focus so I was upset because.I felt like more time could have been spent on the female lead. I just feel like we were sold a story about her and too many other things bogged it down.
I do agree lighting, the outfits and fighting were all pretty good. I have been watching dramas for a long time so I can definitely tell why this kind of drama even with its flaws can be a hit or enjoyable for others. Many of my questions were rhetorical because I knew I did not agree with those reasons. Glad you had a good time watching it though!
Great review! I just posted mine but I don't have the energy right now to tear it apart as carefully as you did😆.…
Hi, lol thank you for your thoughtful comment! I did the review a few hours after I watched so energy was still pumping haha. If I left it till next day I would have been too lazy to write. Just wanted to know if there were any other people who had similar sentiments to me. Glad to see, I wasn't alone in my thoughts.
Yeah I really do think it's a "you problem" I know you were wondering but after reading your review it definitely…
Hi! For starters you seem kinda upset and I just want to remind you that this is after all just a show. And there are millions of other positive reviews of people who liked this drama so I'm not sure why you felt the need to come under mine so upset. (However, I could be mis interpreting your tone. If so I apologize.)
If I remember correctly in my dearest while the characters had an age gap in real life. The characters they played either did not or it was not disclosed at all and they were in classes together. I would also like to point out that I have watched several other noona romances that were actually pretty great even classics one being "My Kim sam soon". When I mentioned the noona romance I was saying that I have noticed with Age gap dramas whether in real life or in story particularly noona romances. The romance suffers because the writers are not willing to push it due to the imbalance. Just my observation in all the years I have watched dramas. And I think because of this trend this drama suffered in the romance department as well. I never in my entire review stated that one way over another was better.
I would also like to add off of historical knowledge or even just going off of the canon the writers set up the current society they were in here was hella judgemental and classist. I'm sorry I'm just not buying that those two would have been accepted in that world. And that wasn't even my point. My point was that the writers can't have their cake and eat it limiting the main leads in some places and not all. She herself the main lead in the drama said it as well. At the end she was no longer a widow because of the actions her husband took and a point a child made. Not because of the king who she put her life on the line for to help. And just because she is free from widowhood. What of other widows suffering like her? So all this talk of justice but essentially nothing changed for those who it really mattered....
You did not enjoy my dearest and I did that is fine. You liked this drama and I didn't care for it that is fine. Why because those are both of our own opinions. Please do not make it a habit to go under people's review with all this energy just because you do not agree with what they said.
Firstly hi and thank you so much for your comment! I just finished watching the last episode and I was gonna make a review but seeing your review here I can rest assured easy that folks are aware of what they are getting into. I agree with every single thing you said. A few too many loose ends and too much focus on the king and politics overall that was never really fleshed out to begin with. But even through all the messiness the feels I got from this drama will never be forgotten so for me that is enough lol! It truly was such a heartfelt watch!
OMG thank you so much for writing this review I shared many of the same sentiments. Firstly for the story to have ended up focusing so much on ZiYu and him still not developing all that much as a character was quite the nuisance. And as I think may would agree we came here for the story of YWS and were much more intrigued with more of the women’s stories but once again female characters are propped up only to later be used as simple plot devices.
The greatest thing I couldn’t wrap my head around was how we spent so much time defining and explaining the hierarchies in skill of the Wufeng and the Gong Family only to see the writer ignore those same hierarchies. There was no freaking way SGQ should have been able to even lay a scratch on Jin fan as a whole red jade warrior and her being only a freaking mei??? And then for ZiYu to have gone through all that training and be bested by a WANG with help?? It was unbelievable and upsetting to says the least. I’ve didn’t mean to rant here and will include this in my review but thank you for pointing this out as well!
