It was really entertaining to watch the Queen play 3D chess against everyone else to keep her children safe. She was such a good mother and it was so sweet how she took everyone under her wing. I also loved seeing all the princes' antics and how they grew over time. The end was a little anticlimactic but I'm glad they actually showed everyone's endings.

This started out silly and fun and then it got dramatic and depressing like wtf was that ending

Overall this show was so funny but also had a lot of secondhand embarrassment. At the beginning I was just watching it casually and thought I wouldn’t finish it because Bong-hwan does a lot of stupid and nonsensical things. But they showed his growth so well and there were so many dramatic and entertaining moments especially as the show went on and Bong-hwan got involved in all the actual shenanigans. They really made it believable that King and Queen fell in love and also I feel like they had everything to show that So-yong had become a merging of two people. And the ending could have been SO satisfying like it was so close to being perfect.

But they completely threw that away with Bong-hwan coming back to the present! That ending felt soo empty and they played it like a happy ending which is such a lie. Cheol-jong literally lost the person he fell in love with and it’s just treated as a footnote. And look, I’m glad So-yong got an happy ending but she did literally nothing to actually achieve it so it should have been WITH Bong Hwan not in spite of him! Their romance and their life literally does not work otherwise like it’s super depressing and unsustainable like this. And Bong Hwan is just supposed to go on with life? He fell in love and literally had a CHILD.

Like I know it's because they're being homophobic to appease their audience but that also doesn’t make sense because what they can kiss and have sex and literally conceive a child, all on screen, but getting a happy ending is the step too far?

Also even logically it doesn’t make any sense because the present would have been affected so much by their actions. Like the writers either have to change the past and then never show the present because it’s super unpredictable or they have to keep the past unchanged but they tried to have their cake and eat it too and it’s so dumb.

Basically they really said let’s make Bong-hwan’s “I stayed here for nothing” come true. I am definitely headcanoning that ending differently, like no fucking way.
