why wont we ever get subtitles for this drama? :((
They've had subtitles for at least a year and a half on Youku. I think that it is translated too now not just auto translated. The subtitling was OK back with auto subtitling but now it seems better.
Subtitles on Youku guys and have been for a long time, stop whinging. If you want them to make dramas you need to pay them for their work. The people hired to translate and do the subtitles aren't getting paid or provided jobs if foreigners aren't buying subscriptions to prove there is a demand.
Also there are like episode previews episodes 1-6 on iQiyi I call bullshit on the stories you guys are hearing. There is even a tab for the episodes 25-44 clearly they are about to drop this crap.
Why are people so upset? No previews tell me anything about the shows or what we might see or what they are about or even really anything. Why would anyone be so hyped up to watch this, it could be about almost anything? There is virtually no information on this drama anyway it makes me think that this is the reason for the drama not moving forward. The people making these shows about time periods that didn't exist but are ancient in an ambiguous ways (could easily be any time period but none of them or all of them) are actively trying to avoid good taste and ruining a legacy of thousands of years of history in China. Cherry picking elements from various times of thousands of years to ambiguously portray a story that they now have no obligation anymore to stick to fact or at least stick most of the time with deviating if you are aren't overly offensive in doing so.
It's just too much for me to deal with seeing these shows be normal now with such high budgets and yet the shows have no point no interesting or unique storylines and don't actually portray any history in any form. The worst part is for me when they purposely avoid it from being possibly paralleled to any actual period. They aren't actually at any risk if they do their show with some actual integrity as even historical errors are overlooked if it isn't jarringly offensive and inappropriate to known facts causing a figure to be maligned in a way that isn't justifiable... deviating from facts is necessary at times in historical dramas and it isn't going to be punished if you are responsible with story telling and they don't want to do that.
They definitely weren't close friends for a decade. They were in a somewhat of a relationship for a brief period which didn't seem very long after tricking him into pretending that they met by fate when really he prepared in advance. Then he disappeared for 10 years thinking he could come back and the sentiment would stay the same.
I am watching Qin Empire right now and have been thinking the whole time how handsome he is. Suddenly I just realised and confirmed from googling it that it's the same guy that played Sima Yi a decade and a bit later in that roaring dragon or whatever series. A total dilf. Kinda secretly hoping him and the guy that plays Duke of Qin start making out because they are both very handsome men and genuinely their friendship is very well portrayed and has me a little sad that they definitely aren't going to be a couple. Apparently this is the way my life is now... Sad that two straight middle aged men from China won't make out with each other on a fictional historical drama because they'd be a cute couple Lol. Hopefully he can't read English and doesn't see this. I blame them for being so good looking and their acting being good.
