I feel like a youth drama as the first Korean original was a bad idea for Disney+, especially if they're trying to compete with Netflix. The trend is very much thriller/horror right now, they should've gone that route if they wanted to start with a bang.

I'm not too into k-dramas so yes, I might be naive to the industry but the points you made in 1 & 2 are so obvious that it goes without saying. No person with zero acting person, who didn't even audition would be offered a lead role if it wasn't for marketing purposes.
There's only been a handful of negative reviews (not "so many"), the rest of us (huge majority) have enjoyed it for the reality of the situation, a new actor in a youth drama. Obviously we cannot say he's at the level of lee jong-suk or ji chang-wook (individuals with years of experience), the only comparison that is relevant that we can make is to other idols turned actors and yes, he is doing well within those parameters.

i agree, maybe it's bc they release 2 episodes at once but everything always gets wrapped up in a nice bow before the next week... like there's never cliffhangers (some ppl may like that tho)
