The novel is a little different from the drama. In the novel, CFT is a wealthy playboy and SXR is 17 years old. The ending of the novel open ending but hinting towards a negative outcome. Drama is also open ending but hints towards a positive outcome.

I could relate to some traits of SXR so I got so invested in his character xD as far as the ending goes, the drama version has happy ending but they couldn't show it due to censorship. So they edited the end to make it look like open ending. The original ending clip was posted on Weibo by the author.

exactly! with er nainai CFT was bound by duties and responsibilities. He truly cared for her and respected her but never really loved her. His love for SXR is more instinctive almost as if CFT and SXR were meant for each other. Truly soulmates. It was destined to happen.

I avoided watching this drama for some time because I hate bittersweet open endings and usually with period BL dramas that's almost always the case. Things were indeed pretty shitty back then. But I steeled my heart and gave it a try and I am glad I did. If you are patient then Winter Begonia will deliver. One of the best BL love stories I have seen in "bromance" form and I have seen a LOT of BL. Shang Xirui, even though a performer was a genius in his art with a heart of true hero. Cheng Fengtai was a shrewd businessman but behind all that he is the real softie. They truly matched one another. True destined soulmates.

CF's wife already realised in the latter half of the drama that even though CF was a good and caring husband to her, he didn't actually love her. I am talking about that crazy, unexplainable love that just pulls you in and will only end with your life. The love where the other person is constantly in your mind no matter what you are doing and will probably think about in your deathbed too LOL. CF found that love in SX. And CF's wife was well aware of that but accepted it as her fate because after all, she was a strong woman herself but also she saw how much they really loved each other.

Yunlan is just a human being in the drama. Shen Wei is not a human. He is from another realm. He is called the ghost king.

One of the best "bromance" dramas. Everyone knew what Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan meant for each other. Even Zhu Hong was jealous of the deep attraction and connection the two MLs have for each other. Zhao made it pretty clear that no one compares to Shen Wei in his heart. And Shen Wei is a HUGE SIMP for Zhao.
People comparing it Untamed are idiots. Storylines and plot setting is completely different in both dramas and can't be compared. I love xiao zhan and wang yibo but imo, zhu yilong and bai yu are much better actors than them.

This is not supposed to be a BL drama so I am not sure why people are complaining about there not being enough boy love. The only seemingly gay character here seems to be P'Justin (their choreo coach) and he seems like a good person so far. The main plot revolves around the girl being bullied for no reason and her getting revenge. not BL.
I am kind of happy that Boun's character died in the series because he was an asshole to the girl and often instigated others to bully her. Gay or not that's a shit thing to do to anyone. He deserved what he got. hopefully, others will too. :D

I think jin hyuk liked sunwoo too but because of his trauma he always acted like the way he did. In the end he got comfortable with Sun woo hugging him which means he was opening up. Also he got pretty jealous of Jean Baptiste and wanted Sunwoo to say but it was hard for him to confess that he needed sunwoo because everyone he dated so far always left him. Also interesting how he compared sunwoo leaving him to his ex gfs leaving him LOL.

I would say give it a shot. I personally found it really good and so many others too as you can tell by the comments. Some chinese movies/dramas that score high on their database, I find are really boring or follow the same plotline. So I personally don't always go by that. Liu Yao Yuan was great! But so were the other actors. It never once felt cringe. Everything seemed natural and in it's place.

I suppose she got sent to prison. She colluded with the enemy and killed a lot of people before. Of course, the emperor wouldn't kill her as she saved him later but wouldn't let her go free either considering the crimes she committed.

I think it has good bromance which picks up after one support character's death. There is a lot of hints of sui zhou and tang fan in domesticity. It's not like in Untamed but by the end of the series you can tell the main 2 leads are hinted to have a special relationship.

In the original BL novel SZ and TF are a couple. WZ is like a really close friend to both of them. WZ cares for both SZ and TF and you will see that in later episodes. WZ and TF are a bit similar in some of their characteristics so TF and SZ make the best couple imo. SZ protects TF in every way he can, the way WZ cannot. WZ loyalty first lies with the emperor and consort Wan and then comes everyone. And not to mention he is only 17. WZ has his own priorities and he cannot be a couple with TF because often their priorities are not same. TF and SZ work better together.
I would suggest you watch the episodes. SZ has a lot more depth in his character than people assume. His PTSD from war has only one cure and that's TF. The way their bromance develops is really sweet.

Guys don't drop this drama just because of Do'er showing up. Tang Fan thinks of her as a good friend. I mean females can be in BL dramas too just as friends. Do'er affection for Tang Fan was also as a friend. She always loved Aras and pushed TF out so it would be just her and Aras because she was not ready to leave him. And the "Bromance" between SZ and TF definitely picks up after Do'er death. I suppose it made them realise how much they needed each other even though they had a brief falling out after the incident mostly fuelled by guilt for not being able to save Do'er. I must say this is one of the most mature development of "bromance" I have seen. It doesn't happen overnight.
