So just realizing something here. Zishengβs glances to Shaoshang from stranger to silent crush to friendlier…
How about a teaser/naughty zone? LBY is so charming in this scene, I am sure you did not miss this one. Here is for those who like to have a second look. Ep. 23(4:52 ~ 5:06/45:52)
Just curious. How do interpret the scene in Ep. 1 (41:49 ~59/45:38)?
Does LBY sense that CSS is at the verandah watching them below? ... and he then starts his admiration speech.
started watching for Zhao Lusi but ended up as a fan for Wu Lei. 1st half was slow but the 2nd half really picked…
The first part is Zi Sheng's the slow but steady love journey. I am in love with this part of story. Now that you are Wu Lei's fan, I recommend a re-watch.
The thing about LLTG for me is like dining in a 5-star MICHELIN restaurant. 1. First watch - surprised at how good it was. 2. Second watch - to savour the taste. 3. Third watch - start to recognise and identify the ingredients that make it so good to taste. 4. Fourth watch and so on, I have just gone bonkers and have a very bad withdrawal. Nothing else seems to give the same satisfaction.
Ok,credit to WuLu cfs..π https://twitter.com/drafts4wulu/status/1573324955412238337?s=46&t=HnQd0L7rtWpGxpvUBOAPUARe-watching…
πππ me too. I am re-watching every day, so you have company @merkun. After focusing on LBY and CSS, now I am zooming-in on scenes with Qui Fei and Qui Qi. What a joyful pair to watch. My funny bones get ticked every time, regardless of the number of times during my re-watch. π€£π€£π€£ πππ
Lol. I love them both and their love story so much. When they both work together, they are very compact and cool.…
Me too. I love them both. I cannot imagine any other actors that can tell HBY and CSS love story better than Wu Lei and Zhao Lu Si. Kudos to them both. πππππππππ
No matter how many times I re-watch the engagement scene, at the palace and then at their home soon after, I am amazed each time by the sheer brilliance of Zhao Lu Si performance as a fifteen-year-old CSS.
Just look at her facial expressions. The multitude of micro-expressions on CSS fifteen-year-old face conveying her emotional transitions showing how her emotional state is altered is so raw, it gets to my gut and tears me eyes each time.
I love how Director Fei uses the camera angle to make CSS stands tall and proud when she walks away from her parents after bowing to them. Hearing her mother's words "I will not interfere with your life in the future" is as good as being abandon again. For goodness's sake CSS is only fifteen. πππ (Ep.24: - 41:56/44:26)
I now realize Zishengβs tone right after the engagement is kind of overprotectively charming. And then when…
I agree with you. when you said before "Wu Lei does 200 percent in acting."
Episode 13 (38:55/43:15). Wu Lei's micro-facial acting is incredible, and Director Fei's close-up shorts are flawless. So good.
I missed to notice this cut before, only on my 4th re-watch I caught LBY facial expression. The boy is head over heels in love. πππ
It irks me every time I remember what one drama reviewer I came across, said about Wu Lei's Ling Bu Yi and I quote, "I feel he (Wu Lei) still hasn't completely gotten what acting is."
I just want to shout, "Girl, you must have skimmed through the first 18 Episodes to make your review. And, to say Wu Lei cannot act well yet and that there is no chemistry between ML and FL, you are just biased?"π€π€π€
I think for me I can sense the chemistry between ML and FL by Director Fei's use of close-up shorts and his way of storytelling. He shows me that that good chemistry can already be established and expressed in many ways even when ML and FL are not together in the scene often.
In fact, the whole scene (36:52/43:15 ~ 39:23/3:15) is such a pleasure to watch........and re-watch. Emperor Wen is such a sweetheart. πππ
@lilan has already explained why Ling Yi was suspicious. As to why he said those things to wife, it was made clear…
Thanks @first-snow55, good analysis to add to @lilan detailed explanation. much appreciated. πππ
My mistake into thinking that Ling Yi for second was thinking that LBY finally was going to see him now that Huo Jun Hua had passed on. Afterall he was the mastermind and the guilty man. how could he not be but specious!
Thanks again @lilan and @first-snow55. πππ
I think Lingyi more like already suspected that LBY would do something on his birthday banquet. First, LBY always…
Thank you @lilan, you explained Ling Yi's psychic so well. I guess the bigger the crime, the more specious the doer becomes. True, Ling Yi was the mastermind behind all the killings of those on the trail leading to him.
@first snow55, I agree with you and just as amazed as you " by Wu Lei's acting in the revenge scene and it's aftermath. Starting from the ruthlessness, followed by the shock, disbelief, madness, grief...the play of all those different emotions in a matter of seconds...it was sheer brilliance." Bravo!
There is one thing I did not understand though about the revenge scene.
Did Ling Yi suspect LBY was going to revenge on his 50th birthday? Why were Ling Yi ready with his assassins disguised as invited guests?
Earlier on in the scene with his wife Ling Yi said, " I have been waiting for this day to come for 5 years. From now on I won't allow anyone to sow discord between me and my son." Then why were there assassins at the guest tables ready to point their swords at LBY? π€
I just couldn't stop. Shamefully guilty of being an addict of LLTG.
I am on my way for a fourth re-watch, not straight 1 to 56 episodes but picking up episodes here and there. Some just to see more details, and some to catch what I missed out based on the commentaries from this MDL wonderful community. I have never been this crazy about any drama before.
For example, @nebula23 wrote and I quote: There are more hand scenes than kiss scenes of Zisheng & Shaoshang ππ»β€ππ»...the first hand scene if I remember correctly is Shaoshang pulling the arrow off from Zisheng's chest...SS: "Are you hurt?" Zisheng: "Are your hands hurt?" π; the most intense hand scene is Zisheng's bloody hand holding onto Shaoshang's hand, CSS: "let's go (off my hand)!" Zisheng: "I won't live without you!"π
I too had noticed this before. There is something special about Director Fei "hand scenes." ππ
There are many scenes where LBY offers his hands to CSS. Now I am re-watching with @nebula23 in mind. πππ
There is an instance when he offers his hand to CSS and how he takes CSS's hand in response to her non-reactions. Then there is another where he takes her hand, and they walk away etc. The details, the slow-Mo and the close-up of the hand scene is certainly not your typical hand-grabbing trope we often see in romantic dramas.
Kudos to Director Fei. You make for LBY grabbing CSS's hand scene so sensual, so tender. I like especially the hand scene in the palace after he fixes her shoe. The way he turns his palm to take CSS's hand is so soft and gentle that as an audience I can feel how much he is already in-love with CSS. πππ Check out Ep. 24: 9:23/44.25, see if any of you guys agree with me.

To the five trophies, may I add another?Drama of the Year with Excellent Rewatch Value.I just completed 1~56 for…
Yes, I love those scenes too. The choreography of these two fight scenes is perfect. The artistic and creative execution of these two fight scenes by Wu Lei, his delivery and rendition are par excellence!
Good choreography alone is not enough to make it outstanding.
Wu Lei makes LBY in the fight scenes so exciting, so charismatic, so powerfully dramatic that he made TV drama on a computer screen seem utterly alive and relevant.
Wu Lei's LBY has this unique combination of grace, athleticism and masculinity.
I am totally hooked by Wu Lei's LBY in LLTG. π₯°π₯°π₯°

Sorry, I am guilty in a small way for taking this space and time. π€π€π€

At the early stages, have you noticed his facial expressions every time his aide, Qiu Fei, mention the name Fourth Lady Cheng? His face shows his cold heart undergoing a meltdown. πππ
Although, Episodes 1~18, there were not much screentime between LBY and NN, as an audience I could already feel LBY's emotions depicting his love at "first sight," for NN. It is very visceral. Wu Lei is definitely a good actor in my book. π₯°π₯°π₯°
