BAILUO forever ❤️
Sometimes, simple and straightforward plots feel more refreshing and engaging than convoluted ones. Even without those wickedly obvious misunderstandings, kitchen politics, or prolonged conspiracies, the story delivered beyond my expectations.
The setting revolves around an investment and banking firm—great! We have a modern office romance scenario, which is always a plus. One of the reasons I appreciate office settings in contemporary dramas is that they often incorporate informative elements into the script. This one, too, included bits of market and investment knowledge—though exaggerated for dramatic effect—but still present.
Moving forward, let’s discuss the characters:
1) Male Lead (ML):
Absolutely adorable. Nothing is more attractive than a man who navigates his partner’s life's turbulence with patience and understanding. He is warm, composed, and deeply respectful of her. His protectiveness and possessiveness are balanced perfectly—he ensures her freedom while standing by her side. Most importantly, he loves her more than she loves him, which makes him all the more endearing.
2) Female Lead (FL):
A true hustler. She remains emotionally aloof—almost immature—when it comes to love, prioritizing her career above all else. Personally, I find women who compromise their careers for the sake of flimsy family excuses to be absolute failures in our society. The ML is wealthy and willing to give her the world, yet she insists on earning her own success. That sense of achievement is something respected by truly good men (not referring to pimps, who would rather have a woman quit her job and become their full-time maid).
On top of that, she is beautiful, witty, a problem solver, a loyal friend, and so much more. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say she is one of the most inspiring female leads in modern dramas. The best part? She’s intelligent. She doesn’t wait for the ML to explain everything to her—instead, she takes matters into her own hands, using a recorder to figure things out. In the end, she even helps him avoid a crisis.
Another charming aspect of this couple is their approach to marriage. They took a two-year gap before dating and getting married. Unlike certain dramas where the FL is so career-obsessed that she delays marriage for seven years, this story kept it realistic. I don’t endorse excessively long live-in relationships—such delays defeat the purpose of marriage and send misleading messages to society. If you can’t strike a balance between personal and professional life within three years, perhaps you’re not meant for the best of both worlds anyway.
3) The Villain(s):
There are multiple antagonists—one is a full-fledged villain, while the other is an anti-hero (half-villain) and the Second Male Lead (SML), who, unsurprisingly, is in love with the FL.
4) FL’s Best Friend:
Initially, I liked this character—she was adorable and sweet. However, her sweetness quickly turned into an unbearable nuisance. The way she desperately chased after Riley’s character was painful to watch—zero self-respect, zero self-worth… just downright pathetic.
At one point, it felt like she was desperate for his (you know what). And those exaggerated cutesy expressions she made? Oh, God. Utterly cringeworthy—uglier than a buffalo’s buttocks.
Honestly, I wanted the writer to kill her off or at least put her in a coma. She was that exasperating.
5) Side Characters:
Well-written and well-executed. From their office colleagues to FL’s mother and ML’s secretary, each side character added depth to the plot.
Cast:
Luo Yunxi was phenomenal as the ML. When has he ever disappointed? His looks, acting, and overall presence are on another level. He remains one of my favorites for a reason.
Bai Lu, my doll, was as charming as ever. Her styling elevated her beauty even more. She shares great dynamics with all her co-stars, and her acting, spontaneity, and screen presence are magnetic.
Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu are often called a screen couple for their incredible on-screen chemistry.
Gao Hanyu is a prominent name in Chinese short dramas. I’ve seen him portray the rugged businessman in multiple series, and his performance here was equally commendable.
Music:
Absolutely lovely—calming, romantic, and heartwarming. ❤️❤️❤️
Overall Verdict:
This drama was totally worth it.
P.S.: In my opinion, the story effectively ends at Episode 30.
