I can't even sit still or see straight as i write this review....this was soooo good. The story although i think could have been a bit longer and the love story more developed, was addictive and it drew me in from the first episode. Waiting week by week was a sweet nightmare or reminiscing and anticipating.

Film....holy.....Film nailed his role as Charn. His smile, his brattiness, his flirtatiousness.... It was the consistency for me, his charecter, multi faceted as it was, was consistent throughout the series even as his thoughts began to change. He didn't suddenly become a great person overnight

And Jam of course also played his part as bearieved uncle, loyal grandson, good man and utterly whipped Khun very well and i found myself giggling and hitting my pillow as he fell in loved and did the cheesiest gestures for his love.

The chemistry of the two.... out of this world....i just.....gahhhh. They set the screen on fire without much NC scenes and i will blush till the end of time at some of the flirting they did.

The side couples were cute too....good acting and cute love stories. And of course the silliest gangster to ever exist.

All in all, i've watched possibly 80percent of BLs produced, from Phillipine to Korean to Thai to Japanese to American to Chinese, and this one will easily take a spot in my top ten faves. So would i recommend it?....uhmm....why are you still reading this....go watch the effin series!

This cast took a story that had very little to work with and made it something.

Full disclosure:I like Gong Jun. Infact some would say LOVE HIM DOWN...and when i heard of his character setting in this drama i was PSYCHED!

ASSASIN....Girl....nothing hotter than a professional murderer.....πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I was quite impatient for this so i searched for the donghua first to watch before it released...and then i remembered why i didn't really like Blood of Youth that much and why i didn't bother with the other one....

This entire story series has very little plot.

Blood of youth felt like i was watching mortal kombat, with people introducing themselves, fighting, admiring one another's skill, then moving on to level up and fight someone else.

This makes it a cute visually appealing drama but not really one I'd ever rewatch or think about much after its finished.

When i watched the donghua i realized that Blood of Youth even had the advantage of Integrating every storyline in the series and giving all of them endings...so it generally had more going on.

That's why i believe even the last installment didn't do as well, Blood of Youth seems to have said all that needed to be said and it left the already very low overall plot of the series dwindled.

Tales of Dark River donghua proved that. It was exciting to watch....but if anyone asked me what happened ....i could explain it in 4 sentences and leave nothing of relevance out.

It's got that one storyline, and that storyline is basically an elaborate tug of war between a bunch of assasin families and a lot of talking.

Like....a lot of these characters have to tell us about their pasts or generally narrate a lot of things since this is solely about the fight...and that can get tiring.

I didn't even see a need to see the last episode of the donghua....I just didn't care at that point....but from that disappointment came worry.....how will Gong Jun, the rest of the cast and the writers pull this off?

How would ANYONE pull of such a story that's both shallow and complicated?

Luckily they somehow did.πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€πŸ™€

They fleshed out the plot enough to give it meat and more substance but still maintained the original content and general parameters of the donghua. The cast was well chosen, though there is some excessive use of makeup.

The production quality is good....Maybe too good at times cause i felt my eyes burn and blur at some of the dark accent.

I like the music and the pace is fast....thank lawd it's fast, so much that although the original story is a drag....its a fast moving drag.

The line delivery from the actors is also Ok....I'm not seeing any excessive signs of dubbing.

Overall this is an 8/10...but that's cause the story its cant be anything above that no matter who acts in it.....but I'll give it a 9.78 cause being able to make something of this is an achievement .....maybe my rating will change later on.

My opinion is very controversial i am well aware,

From the first episode, this show gave me NOTHING.

I know...it may be frustrating for many to hear but i didn't. But that wasn't an issue, even though i watch everything from Cartoon Network to JimJam to Netflix, to Hulu to ...well...things like this...It is very rare that i genuinely like something from the get go. That's just how i am, i am just not easily impressed.

Because of this, i have learnt to ignore first impressions and march on. (LITA was the same, i spent months trying to get past the first episode and today its on my top ten better bls.)

I will put it out there that i genuinely wanted to like Pitbabe cause of the cast and all the work that was put into promoting it before it aired. Also hot guys in fast cars...(helllo!!) So even though i had an urge to skip through it and admit defeat, i held on for a while. I watched until episode 6 then i couldn't...it literally got worse and worse.

The worst thing for me is Pitbabe's character and how everyone and their grandma's world seems to revolve around himπŸ™„.

I love a red flag character ...in fact i tend to mostly like the condemned bls which people say they can't stand cause of the toxic characters etc...I'm very tolerant of that generally.
But Pibabe...gosh...his tantrums and his fragile ego which everyone has to stroke...urg.

Episode after episode everyone is wondering..."Why did Pitbabe storm off?" "What's wrong with Pitbabe why isn't he talking to us?" "Don't worry Pitbabe...you're so strong and capable and better than them." Like wtf. I just can't with that....i can't.

Literally he gives me the Ick and i see NOT 1 redeeming characteristic in him. Which is weird cause I'm the person who found a way to redeem Vegas, Type, Day and all the literal Devil Gods in Chinese series.

And to make it worse, no one is likeable for me in the series. Literally no one. I found myself lacking anyone to root for and it left me baffled. It's never happened before and i've watched Fahlanruk and....EuphoriaπŸ₯²

Way is cute but I can't stand how pathetic in love with Pitbabe he is, that is one thing I've never been able to stomach.

I won't even mention Charlie cause i don't even....urghhh... When he says mummy...i literally want to kill him, me, babe, and like...everyone. Just to make sure it's never said again.

All in all....Pitbabe is a 5 for me...The five to be distributed equally among the hot cast members (even the villain guy) and the cool cars.

Feel free to sue me Pitbabe groupies.

LITERALLY TOP 5 OF MY FAVE SERIES IN THE WORLD!

I don't know why...and i can't possibly begin to justify to myself why this has me on such a chokehold. It's not perfect, that would be ridiculous considering its low budget and the general lack of perfection in all things human made, but i just can't see any flows in it.

The acting, especially Gong Jun's ...woow...sublime. I was smitten from the moment i saw him. His flirting, his grace, his perseverance and his dressing as Wen Ke Xing....it was.....guuuuh. I watched this a year or so ago and i am still hooked. In the words of today's generation, Jun and Zhehan cooked, served and ATE!

I am not in the habit of making reviews because i rarely care enough to (a bad habit of mine) but i was rematching this for the nth time and decided to gush about it because unless this has an overall rating of at least 9.5...i feel it's underrated.

So of you haven't watched this....i don't know what purpose you could possibly have to live onπŸ₯Ί

First of all...the intro...the very first part of the series was very creative and the transition.....well done. I can't help but wonder about the massive budget put into this series so far

Also, Woow. Just woow. Max really outdid himself with the whole alpha male persona he's showing here...from the way he sits to how he commands every room he enters. The visuals too...kon diao's visuals are stunning and the overall production is typical Domundi top-tier production.

There's little to review since the first episode was mostly answering the questions i was honestly wondering about after seeing the trailer and bringing us up to speed to YiDiao a few years after Cutie pie, so i'll write a proper review later on. Just thought i'd move things along.

Anyway...ill be waiting for the next episode eagerly....this is definitely worth it
