I wonder if 1 episode will then be enough to tie in: Franks' and the US intervention arc , Jeon Gye Do's arc etc? Else it will be gratuitous additions serving no narrative purpose? 🤨🤔
Some people should just stick to watching straight up thrillers, or mystery or action dramas and movies only.…
XD Touche! But straight up thrillers can be pretty boring too, you know and drag. Incidentally, "It Happened One Spring Night" was also 'ensemble' cast, 'slice of life' etc, but I don't think anyone could levy the same charges on it. And it did have a B plot, a C plot, a D plot and even an F plot and 6 different character arcs. :) Irrespective, peace.
It's probably not *only* you. Every drama drags for some people. Especially these days when everyone's attention…
I'd love to know how you are defining the 'pacing'. Not being sarcastic or anything. Just curious. While I agree that what 'drags' or 'paces' is subjective, narrative wise it generally means how the stakes are being set, how is the central question being confronted/ addressed? Are the sub plots adding to the central plot etc. Now all these are technical stuff. But it generally translates to what is interpreted as 'pacing'. Not necessarily having to do with ADHD.
Is it only me or is this drama dragging? The last 4 episodes seem to have been more like filler episodes, meandering and whiling away time just to deliver a couple of plot point each. It seems like the writers can neither raise stakes nor suspense nor propel the story in a meaningful way, which leaves the actor blank staring away to glory. And, Hwang Min Hyun's complete acting repertoire seems to be blank, bewildered stares. Be it Alchemy of Souls or here?

Nah. All these are characters added beyond the webtoon. It seems to be some kind of X-ray vision psychic ability, but there's no backstory to it and I am not presuming to get into the head of the story maker. :)

I am presuming that those who can creatively utilise electricity can utilise it to store memories in a storage device. The basis of which is memory is in itself an electrical impulse transmitted to a neuron. Similarly others with similar capability should be able to retrieve memories. Look upon it as a Duracell doing a Pensiere RAM for very charged people. :)
can the bus driver and lee gang hoon see the past or something like that ?it seems that waylike the bus driver…
The 'dry cell'/ 'battery' is a storage unit. It stores both power as also memories, which the particular super power is able to channelise through electricity, as I understand it. Thus, while it is 'Powering up' it is also storing memories.
After breezing through the first six episodes and teetering on starting the 7th, I decided to check out the Manhwa. It doesn't seem the whole story is out yet (at least in Tapas). Irrespective, I read only up till the point which corresponds with what is happening in the Drama. Kang Full has done a bang up job in developing the drama to suite the medium and accentuated and developed the tale so that it has even more depth, intricacies and build up. Essentially evolving the base story UP instead of whittling and force-fitting it down.
This is the exact level and kind of treatment I was hoping would be done for "Black Knight" but wasn't. Instead it was mauled, squished, squashed and compacted...in short nearly demolished. But then, the original creator was off loaded and the director, who seemed to have no connection with the soul of the narrative, went of to produce a story without heart.
But, enough ranting on a wasted opportunity. I do hope that "Moving" continues to develop and deliver with its start up sophistication. Korean story tellers tend to have their 'Game of Throne" moment and will often push their darlings to very derivative misfortune, just to keep their audience at the edge of their seat. I do hope such superficial derivations are not resorted to in this drama.

For those who'd like to know what kind of story? Imagine SuperHeros story meets X-men meets Terminator...in a very fresh Korean School Drama way, with a lot of freshness and tonkatsu thrown in.
I am onto my 5th episode and I can't recommend this Kdrama enough. Just when I was despairing and thought Korean storytelling was sinking into a morass of mindless mediocrity, after a string of disappointments viz, King The Land, Heartbeat, One penny Lawyer...what have you, here comes this drama without any fanfare (is Disney sleeping?) and way behind its schedule. Great production values, great storytelling, great pacing, high on freshness and yet hitting all the conventions and beats (while upending some), nice build up of tension, suspense and conflict as also the slow burns of relationship and of course, a galaxy of star studded cast. ALL ye folks who like good story telling, go grab this drama. Don't wait for the tub of pop-corns. I am not giving a review as I am yet to watch the whole thing, but this is eminently catchable. And Go Youn Jung sure gives Tom Cruise a "run" for his money when it comes to fetish sprinting!
S2E1...from a repurposed "Speed" bus chase to a repurposed "Inception" van dreaming sequence, am I just old to recognise the repurposing, or is Korean script writing getting tired?
tbh I like King the Lang more than I like this. KTL is more on the classic route, the brainless comedy and lightheart…
All thrillers don't need to be action thrillers. But yes, I do get your point. After the first set of scam planning and the first two scams it has become slightly more 'plotting' oriented. I have already agreed to it being lower on the Emotional beats quota. Personally, I appreciate their not dialing up the suspense unnecessarily. If all thrillers are edge of your seat, then it just raises the noise level. This way they have been able to ratchet things up incrementally. I will reserve my comments about KTL. :)
There's something fishy about the ratings of this drama. It should be a solid 8.2 to 8.5, given the overall great performance, the taut storyline and how well paced the plot is. The only weak link is the Go Yo Han/ Mo Jae In pairing. It seems a bit enforced. But other than that this series is a treat to watch. OK, it isn't providing dollops of emmo beats, but then this is a thriller. Not a melodrama. Not just that, most of the comments and reviews seem to laud it. Yet it is scoring a measly 7.7, which seems to indicate an average series which this show DEFINITELY isn't. While, on the other hand, a show like "KING THE LAND" with barely any story, getting panned in the comments, scores an 8.5??? Something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark
The drama is overall strong, especially for a drama adaptation of a webcomic (like look at Kiss Sixth Sense),…
There was the issue of casting an older actress to play a much younger role (irrespective of the talent she brings to the table), thus scenes which were to show her as precocious, does nothing much. On top of which one adds scenes which go nowhere...
I haven't read the manhwa, but from the drama perspective, I feel that it's on the right track. Because manhwa…
I agree that a series adaptation was going to be a tough ask, cos a lot of the story would have to have been compressed. But, given the fact that the story would have had to be compressed, was all the more reason to not add anything superfluous. While the manhwa's storyline is taut and focussed, bringing out only the nuances which add depth to the story and characters, the series seems to be a bit defocussed and scattered, not to mention very superfluous in adding details where glossing over was the key.
I'm not here to throw cold water on the gush, but the 3rd episode was a disappointment for me. Too much empty, superfluous scenes which add nothing towards propelling the story. But then, I am coming to this series from the Manhwa, which has a finely crafted and focussed story, to which the series doesn't yet seems to have matched up, let alone outstrip. Thus, my comment is for any of the viewers who might have come to the series after reading the manhwa. How do you think the series is fairing? Am I only one feeling this after the manhwa?
So, let me get this straight, the dude, a cold-ass hearted man, who doesn't believe in love or even likes to smile,…
Sigh. I can't even comment on this. I had said that the writer, who seems to have no antecedents, had killed the show within the first 2 episodes and all one is left with is a PPT presentation of tropes and cliches and no story. But I had been told to wait for 14 more episodes. All the best for all those who will continue to seek the story in the series. For me, I am glad I let the series go. What a waste though. I was really looking forward to the actors.
2 episodes for Jang Ju Won/ Hwang Ji Hee romance
Will need at least 1 episode to establish Lee Jae Man's story
Will need at least 2 episodes towards Kim Dooshik/ Lee Mi Hyun's marriage, Kim Beong Suk's birth, Kim Dooshik's N Korea assignment, his disappearance and Lee Mi Hyun going into hiding
