Watched the first k-drama since forever, just because I was a huge fan of the manhwa webtoon! Suzy (Doona) is gorgeous and Ha-young (Jinju) has the really pretty sweet girl-next-door vibes as well. I could fall in love with either!
The music was lovely and I'm hooked. The changes in the story beats, tone, and characters brought very different dynamic and interactions when compared to the webtoon. I generally don't mind most of these changes, save for some character differences; it's good that they kept Doona and Jinju's characterisation fairly close. Won Jun was a little mixed-bag; I felt he was a little too gloomy and emo, instead of the cheery and cheekier person he was in the webtoon.
However, I-ra was the worst IMO. I really disliked I-ra's characterisation change; they made her rather loud and annoying, which is the total opposite of her webtoon version. It's such a shame because I relate a lot with her inner-monologues and thoughts. Characters like SJ has very little screentime (understandably so) but at least they made him a successful and nice person, unlike the unlikeable loser he mostly was in the webtoon. Too bad that the medium format and number of episodes means we can't have those foreshadowings, inner-monologues and nuances that was largely present in the webtoon and made it quite unique.
All in all, I still enjoy it! The show brought back memories of the webtoon and a part of my life story like Won Jun and Jin-ju, and made me almost teary-eyed in the same scenes as the webtoon did. I'd give 8.5-9/10
if you guys think the ending of this drama is bad because it was ambiguous and not clear you should be grateful…
The webtoon's ending was really sad, but the After Story made it better, so it was a bittersweet in a way. I'd like that it felt natural and isn't tacked on.
