Review When the Phone Rings Spoiler
Like for real.. a simple happy end would have been so much better or sth less unrealistic..
i knoww like it's so obvious that paik jang ho is the one that killed the FL's lil bro and much to anyone's concern, was never the ML's fault.
But it would've been better if he'd straight up told her about that to show their growth in communication in their relationship and not just randomly show us a never mentioned place in previous episodes and confuse us.

tbh i don't really care anymore cause at the end they made me extremely disappointed because of the throwaway line about the situation in Palestine and making "Izmael" the victim. Free Palestine.

I'm very much with you that it was baffling to suddenly see a war zone and the FL basically going on a suicide mission like she does not care about her life this goorll. 🤌It would have made sense if they'd put some kind of relation to Argan before the last episode so that the viewers can understand why and know (or even guess) that he would go to Argan specifically to disappear to. But since they didn't, it made the ending real confusing indeed. So the best thing that i could think of to make this make sense is that maybe the reason he went to Argan was because it's the only place he could go to? The only place he's familiar with that he can 1) not think about FL, 2) do something to help the world(?) and 3) to punish himself. Eh, i dont know.. this is the best i can think of.. I don't know the real reason since they didn't really tell us before the last episode why Argan is significant to the story and character (ML). I honestly don't even care anymore since at the end they made disgusting throwaway lines about the situation in Palestine and making "Izmael" the victim. Ridiculous.

I do agree that the ending felt a bit out of place. But I think it made sense for the characters. The main leads have been drifting apart and have not really communicated with each other for 3 whole years, right? I think the male lead went back to this bad habit and distanced himself as.. well, humans sometimes can't help but go back to their old habits. And maybe it's reinforced by the guilt of having a family member doing something especially horrible to someone you love. Though, of course, it's never their fault in the first place. At least this is my interpretation.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I do agree that it made the ending a bit out of place, but in my opinion, I think it made sense for the characters.

From what I can gather, the main couple pretty much got used to distancing themselves for 3 whole years. The female lead said that they have always been misunderstanding and drifting apart from each other, and because of our nature as humans to sometimes revert to our bad habits, he made the decision to distance himself. Especially when he just found out that his dad killed her lil bro. Like, who wouldn't feel guilty from a family member of yours doing something bad to someone else even if it's not their fault? ESPECIALLY when it involves murder.

I kept thinking of your words, "This drama is silly even when it is being serious." while watching this drama. They did such a job of making this drama crazy, absurd AND enjoyable. You're completely right, it's so silly even when it's being serious.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm pretty satisfied with the ending.. somehow.

for me, this is the best kdrama ive ever seen so far.

when i started this drama, i told myself that i will finish this drama no matter what, no matter the imperfections the characters have, i will finish it and now i understand that the first few episodes will show the "problems" that the characters have and for us, the viewers, to see what kind of story we will be going through and who the characters are. then, when you keep watching until the end, you will find that those "problems" will be resolved or concluded. all we need to do is be patient.

it's okay, if you really don't like it, there's plenty other dramas out there, but this is my suggestion: watch this kdrama. don't miss out on this masterpiece. you won't regret it.

the story, the plot, the characters, the character development, the music, the cinematography, just everything is amazing and deserves an award. i love this drama and it will never be the same when i first watched it. i will rewatch it when i have time so if you want to watch it, please do!

that said, im only suggesting, so if you still don't want to watch it, that's perfectly fine.
