he does everything to protect XiaoYao, after having lost her, he found her and wants to protect her at all costs, especially as he started to believe the rumors about her origins, only by having full control over the country, he believes, no one will threaten XiaoYao....... she never had romantic feelings towards him anyway, but a very strong sibling bond, and seems like, she doesn't realise yet, to what extent Cang Xuan has sacrificed his own personal happiness in order to provide her security...... she is his driving force, but not to obtain power per se🌷yes, XiaoYao is Cang Xuan's only love.... interiorly 🤣 exteriorly he has a harem 🤣that too, is done in order to bring peaceful security for XiaoYao.....so weird

that reminds me of the series The Adventures Of Merlin, with Colin Morgan as a main cast, I've got to rewatch it some day 🙂

this story telling is sublime..... and yes, they don't know the wisdom of letting go

it's a tragic story altogether, normally I don't watch such movies, but this one compensates by stimulating logical discussions, it's a masterpiece..... someone below posted an extensive review of TSJ's character, I find intriguing....

gosh......very substantial evaluation of TSJ indeed.... I do agree with it, even by watching the LYF1 three times, as I didn't read the novel..... my question is, why does FL end up with this kind of a character? isn't it a loss for her? It's definitely a gain for him to marry her

why didn't he come? he often just leaves her, while watching from some hiding place... he cares about her bodily wellbeing, but avoids getting emotionally involved with her 🍀 he had the greatest chances to be with her forever, and he lost it..... well it's his own choice....

FL loves him as a brother, their story is that of a rare and perfect siblings' ❤️ bond of love...it's pure, faithful forever, each of the siblings is totally ready and willing to sacrifice everything, so the other one is safe and happy.....very rare to meet siblings like that in rl

there are so many layers to this amazing story, your reflection on XiangLiu reminded me of his fierce fiery anger outburst, which he's apparently not able to control.... I wonder if they are not the frustration of his realisation of making a wrong choice, rather than his loyalty..... that 'choice' shackles him from fully pursuing his newly discovered great love of his life - XiaoYao....

Cang Xuan is a perfect brother model 🍀 they are cousins, but they share a most beautiful and rare sibling bond 🍀 while XiaoYao has a pure sisterly affection for CX, his is coloured with some romantic feelings, but the unadulterated base of their sacrificial loving dedication to one another, is the sibling bond🍀 even if CX didn't develop romantic feelings towards XY, he is always able to lay down his own life and safety for his beloved sister-cousin XiaoYao

I'm reminded here of J.R.Tolkien, who also wrote himself and put songs and poems inside of his works....🍀 I wish XiangLiu had a happy ending with XiaoYao, as a reformed man and her homely happy husband🌷 I'm nearing the end of rewatching s1, and gotten sick of TushanJin's endless ' I'm sorry'....

this movie is very well composed 🍀 I wonder how long it took for it's producers to concoct it and put together, I mean - without the actors 🍀 but to put together the whole idea, develope it.... it's perfect in detail ....... she lures him/and feifei - but then TushanJing picks it up, she heals TJ with this song, while he plays the qin....then he gives her a slightly reversed poem.....

it is set from the start... they play different songs and melodies for different suitors and scenes... words of the song played for TushanJing is encouraging and hopeful for their future, but the words and melody for the song played for XiangLiu/FFB scenes is eery, without giving him any hope for a prosperous future.... even final words:' it's the end ' are foreboding
