Unpopular opinion: I completely understand Xiao Yao. She just wanted someone who would stay with her and treat her the way she deserved to be treated. Why do people expect her to fall in love with a man who would rather die with his soldiers than live with her? If I were a man going to a lost war, I wouldn’t get close to the woman I love or make her develop feelings for me. She did the right thing by rejecting his kiss and not letting her feelings grow for him.
