I've read the whole webtoon that's out so far and currently reading the novel. Fascinating story. Disappointed this is a movie and not a series but I'll take what I can get. Really looking forward to this!

I just reply to this. it's not misogynistic to dislike romance in general, that's not what I said. it's a widely held opinion that romance is a waste of talent and I think that opinion is rooted in misogyny. please don't take these words to heart, it wasn't meant to attack you I also want to say my favourite dramas are mainly thrillers for the reasons you state. I love all genres except zombie stuff.

That's a good point. If an actor can do romance well, then they most likely can do all other genres well as well, but the same can't necessarily be said the other way around.

I agree. Action and mystery and such have their own significant difficulties to act in, but romance is a completely different ball game. You have to cooperate with and act opposite another person and get the chemistry spot on otherwise it can kill the entire show. It requires a LOT of talent and there are some actors/actresses that just can't get it right. People who disregard the romance genre disregard some of the most groundbreaking and intelligent pieces of media there are.
This show starts out so strong. I was in love for the first 16 (half-hour)episodes. It came across as a thriller, and was genuinely spooky, with great plot. The atmosphere was really good, and the plot was actually a little unpredictable, but well written. But the second half....
Do Not watch this for the romance. There is no chemistry, and I had no idea why the ML liked the FL because her character was so bland. She is quite boring as a character, and when in the second half, they start putting emphasis on the romance, this is when it starts to go downhill, because there is no reason for them to have this strong feelings for each other, and it's just not believable. You're telling me they'll die for each other after ten days? Crazy
Also from the start of the second half, the same plot points keep coming up and no progress is made by the main characters. They keep doing the same thing and getting thwarted in the same way by the villain in the second half. HOWEVER, I have to commend ML's acting as there was a particularly poignant part where he is alone crying that broke my heart. Superb writing or directing there as well as the acting.
One problem is the way they cut this show. Whoever edited this show is wild. In the aforementioned crying scene, you can tell they cut parts out and edited it a lot, which is fine as long as it isn't obvious to the viewers and still looks good, but it did affect the best scene in the show imo.
There are other problems like that, particularly the cyclic plot. I started getting déjà vu every episode. There is also a very obvious plot twist at the end that is treated like it is mind-blowing with all the flashbacks we're given. There are TOO MANY flashbacks in this show, another problem from the editors.
Just to end my comment/review, I have to compliment the main villain. She is very cool and well acted in my opinion. Especially in the first half, she was chilling to watch on screen. I'll watch future projects from her for sure.
Let's appreciate the amazing cinematography! I've been watching kdramas quite some time now and it's the first…
Honestly one of the main things that make this show stand out. The way the camera lingers on their hands almost touching, the framing of the characters when they're staring at one another, it's so well done! And this is partly thanks to directing too. Just a brilliant combination that makes a masterpiece
