Super enjoying buried hearts and undercover High school. I hope buried hearts continues to flourish and that UHS gets its feet back under it. Both dramas are very cool
I hate it when the FL has a billion different men chasing after her like if that's the way it's gonna be make it even so the ML has just as many options yanno
The FL is not a very good character in this. It's unfortunately the biggest flaw this show has. Just finished…
I finished it on 2x speed and actually quite like some of her character development even though she's still wishy washy. Very impressed with the finale episode. Overall decent. Probably wouldn't rewatch except for some ending scenes
lol when life gives you tangerines rating got tanked everyone was saying it was anti romance trolls tanking the ratings. now this one's ratings gets tanked and everyone is saying it's romance simps tanking the ratings. in fact every drama starting in the last two months has had really low ratings for the first 48 hours, including buried hearts, undercover High school, the potato lab, my dearest nemesis, the witch etc. this isn't about romancers Vs antis or whatever you'd call it. idk why this keeps happening but that's not what it is
The way they framed the shock on Dongju and eunnam faces when the sister got hit was crazy good. It made it feel all the more sickening. Great directing choice
The FL is not a very good character in this. It's unfortunately the biggest flaw this show has. Just finished episode 12 and this girl has no personality, she's a MarySue. No idea why the ML likes her, the other woman that likes him is much more interesting.
I'm currently on the fourth episode. The villains are quite cartoonish lol the webtoon screams through the show. I can see how fans of the webtoon would love this, but for the first time I can't help but think maybe sticking so close to the source material makes the TV show a bit cringe...
All mediums/medias have a different feeling to them than to one another and it's for good reason. If I wanted two dimensional characters I would just stick to the comic! Character development and depth is generally supposed to be the best in original novels, second best in original TV series, and apparently the worst in original webtoons/comics/cartoons.
If you're making an original webtoon into a TV series, there's certain things you have to do so that the writing doesn't suffer, like adding depth and humanity to the characters that don't get it in the webtoon/comic.
Sure, we have to hate the villains (original bsf & bf) so we don't feel bad when she's getting her revenge on them, but can't we still hate them, even when they come across as realistic people that might actually exist somewhere? It's not just that they are fully evil characters, which can be fun, but they do nothing other than think about how to make the FL suffer at every moment. No other thoughts whatsoever. Nothing else going on in either of their lives.
That being said I'm enjoying the surface level justice we're getting. I'm shocked this got an 8.5 though; thinking it's going to get better is the only reason I'm not dropping this yet.
This show is so heart rending. It gives me that warm but grieving feeling when I watch it because you know how things end from the start. The ML and FL are very frustrating in that they don't communicate properly. To be fair no one in this drama does, and it's kind of the baseline of this show. I wonder what this story would be like if they all talked to one another and showed their feelings and pasts honestly.
The characters are very human. The writers don't shy away from showing their flaws but also why each character is loved by someone.
This era of television is gone now; they really don't make dramas like this anymore. This was from before the Hallyu wave, and you can tell it was truly written and produced primarily for passion. It also encompasses darker and more scandalous themes than the majority of Korean dramas made afterwards. Or maybe it just shows these themes in a more brutal and scorching way.
Not to say this is the best drama from Korea, not even close. There are modern dramas that are much better. Yet still none that have the vibe and atmosphere of a show like this; it's very unique and refreshing.
