It makes more sense if he’s blinded by love up to that point. But even then, he doesn’t leave Shin. He devises a plan to make Shin stop to save him. And some of the things he says to Shin3 by pool about human Shin would be read as romantic if it were said in context of a woman instead. Shin 3 also points out that Young Hoon wants to protect Shin as a friend the way he wants to protect Kang So bong. Of course it’s revealed that So Bong and Shin 3 are actually feeling something more than friends, but Shin 3 isn't well versered in emotion enough to tell the difference until someone tells him. But still- he recognizes some similarity. Maybe it’s me reading more into it, but I’m pretty sure that was subtext written in.

Did anyone else get the feeling that Human Shin and Ji young Hoon were gay?

I’m wondering if the serial killer isn’t Noh Kyu Tae, since he has that stereotypically “serial killer” background of the narcissist that feels emasculated at home. Plus the tag line of ‘stop being a joke’ could reference the fact that town treats him like loser and pities him. I could see him taking his rage out on women who don’t reciprocate his feelings or at the very least, as a proxy for his wife.

That actually sounds about right, especially considering her kleptomania. I think he was crying partially from relief, but also because he knows Hyang Mi.
