Damn, thanks for the heads-up! Btw I´ve just finished one of my (longer) "intermissions": "The Mistress of the Hou Mansion Wants to Die of Sleep" (links in Liu XiaoXu & Ye XinXin comment section). It´s neither a comedy nor a real romance, but relaxing (no abuse) and with an interesting storyline which together with the acting and the production value made it really engaging.
Synopsis: Lin Ji, Marquis of Zhongyong, leaves his legal wife in charge of the mansion with all it´s inhabitants of concubines, children and other family members as well as staff and goes for years on end to the guard the border in his function as a general, only to return with a young pregnant woman, who immediately disrespects the legal wife as she wants to take over her position. This makes the Chen Yuhu die on the spot out of anger and the repeated disappointment. The FL, a history major college student, dies from overworking, transmigrates and becomes the mistress of this ancient mansion. Having been told that she will be able to return, as long as she manages to live to a ripe and old age in this world, she decides to take matters into her own hands and switch things up. Being a modern, clear-headed college student, she won´t be love-struck and jealous like the original mistress, but instead cherish her life of wealth and privilege. She sends her biased mother-in-law to a period of seclusion, keeps the obedient and beautiful concubines to play cards with, and lets the disobedient ones experience the methods of a matriarch. She raises all children well, and focuses on their education, character building and future. By changing her approach to life, love and family she becomes the real center of the family, respected and much-loved.

It´s good to know the approximate timeframe. Thanks! I haven´t seen any of the adaptations, thus I didn´t know what to expect. Sadly I couldn´t warm to the acting of the main leads in this new version and their lack of chemistry, which made it difficult for me to enjoy the comedy. During my next intermission (at the moment I´m watching "Fated Hearts" and "New Life Begins") I´ll have to check out Sean Pai´s version and see how it goes....
