wow, that's something new. Now you got me curious about the drama :). But it's too long I'm not sure I'll have either the time or patience.
Agree with you actors play a vital part here. That's why I'm amazed whenever I come across a comment that says people like HJP just because of the hype and SLS. I know I like him for many things, but firstly because of KSH's top-notch acting. I don't even understand what SLS really means :)
Not sure if you have read it, but this redditor had a great analysis on HJP-SDM endgame: https://www.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/comments/jyqbvs/comment/gdf5kub

Interesting. I haven't watched either you mentioned, but as for Empress Ki I think I could understand why the audience prefered the SML, I myself got curious about him just by watching a few random clips.
I don't like severe love triangle so I think I will be more careful what I choose to watch next :)
I know I'm reading too much into this. BUT Ep. 12 when SDM and HJP are eating noodles the conversation goes like…
Love this! So if I was on a date with a guy and he kept using the word 'we', I'd consider we had something special :P
Joking aside, the word 'WE' is one of the favourite words in my book which I use a lot, many times deliberately as my way to tell the listener(s), this is what we share, we're in it together, we're one...kind of message. Loved it that you noticed the word here :)
It already happened in some other drama like Baker King. When the second male lead and FL had too much of a good…
Gotcha! I wasn’t trying to raise my hopes, but like many other viewers, I haven’t been able to wrap my head around a number of things, so I wanted to put myself in the writer’s shoes and try to see what could possibly be the root cause, was it bad writing, or something else. But we can only guess.

Oh I see. But that's mostly due to the reaction from IU fans right? I was wondering about some insider's influence, e.g. the actor's agency. But I guess that'd be harder to tell since we wouldn't know what's going on on the inside, would we?
From my experience working on TV show production (not entertainment but shows for the public nevertheless), it’s not uncommon that during or even post-production, the client would ask to fix certain things here and there. We’d try our best to adjust to meet their requirements but at the same time make sure our work stay true to our values and standards and not give in to unreasonable demand from them. All in all, we'd try to reach a middle ground where both parties are happy.
However, there was this one occasion when I lost the ‘fight’ and had to make a lot of changes in my script and even had to reshoot a number of scenes. Sure enough, the video turned out to be less than decent, to me at least.
But anyway, that’s not the story I wanted to bore you with, my point is, could it be the same case with Start-Up? Is it possible that the writing was under some influence so they had to change their direction and what not hence all those plot holes and inconsistencies we’ve been talking about? I don’t know about Korea’s entertainment/film industry so I have no clue. Any thoughts?
I just took a look at the relationship chart (here's the link if anyone else wants to do that too: https://www.soompi.com/article/1431388wpp/suzy-and-nam-joo-hyuks-drama-start-up-increases-the-intrigue-with-relationship-chart)…
Sounds nice :). At the end of this drama, I think we will all increase our 'reading' abilities due to 'reading' too much haha
Just wanted to say I've decided to boost my trust and confidence in the writer that one of her messages is hard work and hardship will pay off, that there will be a pleasant surprise in store for us all at the end of this roller coaster ride that makes it worthwhile, that HJP will find true happiness, and by the end of it all, we will cry, but happy tears.
Really??I still have that 1% hope and it's decreasing..
I can't agree more that this love triangle has done HJP and SDM also NDS no good so far and I hate that they have made it so extreme yet half-assed at the same time.

Like I said, I don't care anymore about who being the endgame, as long as they don't go down the route that breaks HJP's heart I'm fine. Or to put it more precisely, because my greatest fear is that they will drag him into this love triangle for as long as they can just to toss him aside in the end, the endgame is no longer a concern for me. I just want them to spare his heart.
I said to you a few times already, I wouldn't be surprised if HJP turns out to be the endgame. But I phrased that wrong. If I am asked to say which one of the two guys I really believe is the endgame, I'd say it's HJP, and with the same reason as yours, "It just makes so much sense, in that I can explain everything the writer has done up to now if he's endgame. I can't explain anything if he isn't". And that the writer couldn't have done things unintentionally. It must be intentional. While many people say the writer must hate HJP character, I am actually of the opinion that she likes him despite the extreme hardships she has put him through, that those hardships will pay off. Of course we could be wrong, but I don't mind being wrong once in a while. So though I don't like DM, and no longer care about the endgame, if HJP's happiness is to be with her so be it. I'd be over the moon for him just the same as long as he finds his happiness.
Anyway, what you say was exactly my thought but I just couldn't find it in me to want to get it out there due to the disappointment and fear the past few episodes have brought me. So thanks for saying it out loud, you speak my mind! And just know you're not alone!

I was wondering the same thing about Start Up so wanted to hear what others think. But well, we will never find out.
