I'd been wondering when we would see you pop back here so I'm happy to see you with us again :). Haven't read your other comment properly but will later.
Okay, in a comment below I suggested that the writer and director had to change the original ending but stubbornly…
Ah welcome back!
'To some extent stories write themselves. I can certainly see how HJP may have unexpectedly offered the story a layer that the writer hadn’t been banking on'. I loved this and I agreed :)
Oh dear! HJP peeps, The Swoon's Swoonies's Choice Awards is now opening votes for Most heartbreaking Han Ji-Pyeong moment on their stories. *crying* I don't know what to think :|
Just wanna say that even as a NJH and NDS fan myself, it’s super true that NDS’ character was ruined and does…
This is nice! What a breath of fresh air to have an unbiased view from a NJH/NDS fan. You'd be surprised (or maybe not) to learn that many viewers started watching this show for NJH yet fell in love with KSH and his character more because they found NDS becoming more and more unlikeable and HJP more relatable/lovable. I also really liked NDS at first and tried my best to continue liking him but at one point it became impossible. Believe me I've worked in companies with hundreds of IT guys of various nationalities and I've always loved working with them but I can't relate or see much of them in NDS (or SST). Some of NDS's actions are unacceptable and unrealistic even (e.g. violence in the workplace is a big no-no and should be brought to HR's attention, and a CTO does it seriously?). Many of us here on MDL pointed these out to explain our dislike to NDS not because we are HJP/KSH supporters but because we're human yet we got criticised by some NJH fans for being biased and crazy and what not. I was honestly amazed some didn't see how problematic some of NDS's behaviors were and thought they're romantic and heroic.
I admit I haven’t been able to move on from Start-Up lol. Looking back, this is what it felt like for me: a love/hate relationship, now that Start-Up was like an ex.
- In the beginning they were amazing and you two were happy. Due to their working schedule, you got to meet only twice a week at weekends. You were eager to get to know more about them and each time you two met, you couldn’t wait till you saw them again next time.
- But after just a couple of weeks, things quickly took a different turn, they changed to a completely different person. They were now all talk with empty promises, their behaviour was inconsistent and often misleading.
- Deep down you knew their heart was no longer in it and they were just stringing you along. But you were in denial, and kept giving them the benefit of the doubt.
- Every now and again you wanted to end the relationship but there was this one good thing, this incredibly sweet thing about them that you truly cared about holding you back and for that good thing alone, you tolerated their toxic behaviour.
- Then one day, they ended it. Of course you saw it coming and you’re glad it’s over.
- However, they never explained clearly why they dumped you the way they did or what went wrong in the relationship. When you asked, they just gave you a whole lot of BS. Turned out they didn’t have the answers themself.
- You know you will never get a closure so for your peace of mind, you’ve been constantly asking yourself why and reading up online from people who’ve been through the same for comfort.
- Despite how bad the relationship was and how bad of a person you think they were, you are missing that one good thing about them all the time.
- It’s been some time but it feels as if it just happened yesterday. You know you will move on eventually but due to a lot of unresolved feelings it’s been quite hard.
I'm here as well! It's a pity that one can't create groups here in MDL haha. We really need a Ji Pyung Nation…
Niceee, will definitely watch the Guest.
@Nox: more recommendations on crime/thriller/mystery: Signal, 365 Repeat the year, Tunnel, The lies within, Voice if you haven't watched already. Other genres: Prison Playbook (slice of life/bromance), WWW Search (everything that Start Up didn't deliver).
