@Drama watcher ML being a cuckold and FL tolerating her male friends advances and even forgiving him are just present in works that are made to sell to female audience... It is not japanese culture to tolerate these things, it is common tropes in female oriented works... These things are very common in Shoujo/Josei mangas... It is also very common in western literature like Twilight... Even in Hollywood movies that are classified as chickflicks have these disgusting tropes... That is why men grow up thinking they HATE romance movies and romance genre because all the romance works they come across are female oriented that have things which disgust men... Watch the works from Shonen/Seinen manga, they don't have these tropes and have well liked, mature MLs and FLs

The FL buying a bunch of purses from ML shop scene, he did say 'some men should be punished' but he didn't say in a way that women can't buy it for themselves rather than 'it is very unusual for 1 person to buy that many purses' way... Thats the reason FL responds to that comment with 'I'm giving gifts at a party, these are not for me'... No where in the context, ML insinuated that FL is too poor to pay... Rather he was curious why this woman is buying so many purses... He can't directly ask 'Why are you buying so many purses??', you don't question your customer's sanity when they are purchasing from you, hence the joke 'some men need to be punished'... That joke is not at the expense of women, rather than at the expense of MEN normalising that if the girlfriend is pissed of at the boyfriend she can spend recklessly, uselessly, HIS money and he even said that the BOYFRIEND DESERVES IT!! Thats the most toxic shit you can ever do to a person and he said boyfriend deserves it... I really don't understand why people like you only see the sexism towards women that is barely present in context but ignore the most sexist, toxic shit towards men and not even realise it!!

The above comment talk about how the writers of the drama justifies cheating when FL is a cheater, not the public reaction. And the public reaction is stronger when FL cheats is because the writers justifies it, doesn't punish her in the story, and viewers can feel the injustice that ML is put through and gets mad. Go and look at comments when ML is less perfect and acts like a normal human being, and thinks for himself rather than only think for FL, the people just complaint about the ML

For example 'Misty 2018', there FL is a cheater no two ways about it, but still her husband still begs her to get back excusing her cheating and you even find comments defending that FL cheating ass... There are so many examples. 'My Familiar Wife' has a wife who throws knife at her husband which cuts his face... But we still have excuse her domestic violence and ML has to go through this journey where he learns his wife actually loves him very well and he needs to appreciate her... Its really sick... In most Korean dramas FL puts ML through emotional abuse for her measly love at the end... I can think of so many examples where story basically excuses FL cheating... 'Hirugao', ''Secret Love', 'Secret Affair'... Most common excuse - husband didnt show enough love... if thats the case divorce his ass DONT CHEAT!
