Review The Rebound
Can we talk about humor Zen just up and left his bf and probably stayed with the guy that just confessed to him for 3 months?? I was kind of insulted they tried to pull that like it wouldn’t be a problem in their relationship. Also REALLY wanted Atom to stop rubbing his shoulder while he walked Zen away from Ryu. It gave me the creeps

I don't understand the ending, isn't he asked to imagase to live together, then why he left again?? Someone please…
Hello! when they were having this conversation, he said he would break up with her tomorrow. Each time he was caught cheating on his ex in the past, he said the same thing. I don’t think he actually believed he would do it and couldn’t handle the “false hope” again.

The last confrontation they had before this was when he begged Ootomo to be with him again and initially got the answer “I don’t want you anymore”

The last thing they talked about before bed was Ootomo telling him they were basically too old to be fighting over romance when there are more important things at hand.

To Imagase, that came across as saying romance wasn’t important in his life aka Imagase isn’t important. That’s just his insecurities winning but with this dude’s track record I would probably take it the same way. The clip at the beach shows Imagase telling him that he’s swayed by anyone who loves them. He’s always kept his options opened and never turned down an advance. That’s exactly how the fiancée came into the picture so he was clearly on the mark about it. The college friend Eve said Ootomo was a rat that willingly followed the pied piper.

Tbh idk if he would have actually called off his engagement if Imagase hadn’t thrown the ashtray away. Earlier we heard him tell his fiancée that it was the only thing his ex requested he keep so he would always remember them. Throwing it away basically means that he wants to forget him. That it was actually over and that he should just get married like he intended.

He needed to actually lose Imagase for real to realize what was important. The open ending with Ootomo cleaning the dish and waiting at home in the very same chair Imagase sat in and waited for him or obsessively hacking his phone to read the text messages could mean that the roles are now switched and he will need to wait with that same anxiety, hoping he will come home that night.

Imagase attempting to move on but not being able to stand that other guy’s touch and bawling could allude to him never actually being able to let Ootomo go in his heart. As if it’s only a matter of time before he goes back to obsessing over Ootomo and they reunite.

That was my interpretation of the ending at least! Could definitely be far off base lol I’ve had a toxic relationship in the past that very closely mirrored the tug-of-war situation of holding on to someone that will never stop hurting you like that so I may be a little biased.
*Minus the whole married thing and sitting outside their house lol

I hope they release the part 2! The very end of the director’s cut showed the main director passed away in March of this year from cancer:/
