It might be because
- he’s tired of the politics behind arrange marriages
- he knows besides his mother, no one in the lin family can manage the house well and with sincerity
- lanxiang not only is smart but also kind and considerate

I dont feel at all that he’s after the title of a benevolent husband or seeking gratitude as a matter of fact.

As for his sense of entitlement, so far he hasn’t shown anything as such 🤞🏻
