What if it was the other way around? LJW, a veteran actor with a huge following, and JSM, a new outstanding actress…
U know what.... i have always consumed media from the perspective of an onlooker. Thinking from the point of view of creators is an alien concept to me. So now that u have mentioned it, i can see the direction the creators are trying to take. Not the way i want it to be but understandable. I hope they actually bring back the OG mudeok so JSM can still be a part of this. I am aware naksu is the fl so technically GYJ would be the fl. That is an interesting dynamic i would want to see. I have a more detailed theory but i genuinely don't feel like talking about part 2 anymore. I usually tend to be calm and try to stay away from heated discussions on social media. I was calm when the news got out but some comments here managed to trigger me. Almost 2 days have passed and the news has finally settled in. I hope everyone here can go back to their weekly discussions instead of fanwars.

The theories before the rumor got out revolved around naksu's soul surviving in mudeok's body. Ice stones, surge of energy and what not. No one was speculating about bringing the original naksu body back to life since they showed us it being burned. That should tell u why this felt like it came out of nowhere. And bringing someone or something back to life after showing it to be dead is a trope i hate from the bottom of my heart. I hated when they brought jon snow back. I hated when they brought hopper and max back to life in stranger things. It's plot armour. And if everyone expected the fl to change then there wouldn't be this much noise. Not to mention, it seems weird to me that if the writers can bring a burnt body back then they should easily be able to write a way naksu can live in mudeok's body. And for me chemistry matters a lot and so do actors playing the character. I tend to drop shows if i find the chemistry lacking or the actors not being on par. I personally find the chemistry between JSM and LJW insanely good. It would be ridiculous if the show runners spent 20 episodes developing their chemistry and then changing the actress for later episodes. It's not about whether bringing the OG naksu back makes sense or not. It's about how awkward it would feel to see the new actress romance LJW. It breaks immersion from their romance( these are the exact same words thousands of k-netz have already said).Maybe for some people the character is bigger than the actor. Maybe they can still be invested in their romance. But for me, it feels like a betrayal (and i am sure it's the same for all the people angry right now). Popular sentiments are popular for a reason. I will definitely watch season 1 and I will watch season 2 depending on whether the actress that got me so invested in her character, is returning or not. Also, i apologize for sounding so condescending towards you and everyone else who feels excited towards this change. Everyone is entitled to their own views and feelings. ✌

I was one of the people who tried to stay calm (as nothing has been confirmed) and see what the show has to offer. But there came paragraphs after paragraphs about how people who were upset about the possible fl change are being irrational and negative. People welcoming the change as revolutionary in fiction to celebrate it. Here is the thing, the writers are going where no kdrama has gone by establishing the chemistry of an actress with a ml for more than halfway the show and then replacing that actress. The only time kdramas have done this is when the actors get in a controversy. No drama writers have written part of their dramas for one actor and the other for another. Why? Because this would cause an uproar like the one now. When such huge amount of people react negatively to a thing, maybe they aren't being irrational after all. Maybe the show runners are the one being irrational. Anyway, I hope this was just a rumor because i don't want this drama to suffer bad reviews. I have been following updates ever since the first actress was announced. I rushed to see the tv ratings after every episode. I was ready to give this drama a 10/10 and overlook any plotholes and irregularities if only the hong sisters would deliver a satisfying ending for once.

It's not just her fans tho. It's the korean general public along with casual international viewers that feel the same way. Also this is just another case of writers messing the hell up. The endings of mr.queen and 25-21 were badly received. The fandom wars in start-up were a result of a bad writing or at least against the sentiments of the audience in my opinion. Everyone knows GOT's last season sucked. All I am saying is going against the popular sentiment will always backfire and in the end may affect ratings. And this is on the production and production alone. People will always hate what they hate.
The silver lining in all of this unintentional mess is that this might make the production reconsider their idea…
They don't really have to start from scratch. A tad bit of rewriting can undo all this. If they can somehow bring back a body that was shown to be burned...they can make way for naksu in mudeok's body as well. Not to mention, rewrites and reshoots are a lot more common in kdramas than people think.
At the end of the day fans are absolutely entitled to feel and comment whether they feel a certain way about a…
The silver lining in all of this unintentional mess is that this might make the production reconsider their idea of changing the fl if that was the intended path. The reactions of korean genral public matters a lot to the production team as they are the ones responsible for ratings. And the reaction to this has been nothing but negative. So if the crew has any sense, they would immediately jump ship.
Ikr!! Like i will still watch all of part 1 but just to see what they have in store for us till the end. If by the end of season 1, their intentions about changing the fl are clear then i have no reason to look forward to the next season. I don't want to immerse in a show whose creators are ridiculous enough to allow the audience be invested in a character played by a certain actress and then expect the audience to be okay by replacing the said actress.
Everyone calm down!!! Her agency just replied that she hasn't left the show and is currently in talks for season 2. This just feel like a PR move to attract more attention to be honest....
This is my first time sharing my thoughts on a drama because I feel like there are a lot of things that nobody seems to have talked about since this is still on-going and not many people seem to discuss it.
I have been looking forward to this drama for so long because both the leads are some of my favorites. I had high expectations and the first two episodes did meet them. I will start by saying I actually could not sympathize with boo jung though I am sure I will warm up to her in the upcoming episodes (just like I had trouble empathizing with lee ji ahn in my mister initially). I think it must be becuase I am still young and cannot relate to mid-life crisis or martial problems. I also do not have any opinion on her husband at the moment. I like to think that there is more to that man than we are shown. I have a feeling part of the reason for the awkwardness between him and boo jung could be boo jung's reluctance to open up to him. I appreciate that they haven't made his character just straight up unlikeable like the wife in my mister.
I think I am more intrigued by kang jae and I keep waiting for his scenes. It probably is because I see some bits of myself in him or maybe junyeol is just majestic. Overall, I love the movie-esque feels from this drama credits to the director. My favorite scene so far has to be the bus scene and the scene with kang jae tearing up while hallelujah playing in the background is a close second.
