That summary + picture confused me so much. By the 'middle-aged', I completely imagined a 40-50 yo man! Then I see the photo where they both look pretty much the same age and was like 'huh?' Apparently, the actor was like 26-27 when it was filmed. I just discovered that I am almost middle-aged and I definitely don't feel ready! 😂

Definitely. I just don't know if the actress is to blame or it's mostly due to the overall bad script and the director. I'm sure the latter two played some part.

That first episode was definitely something. I got through it thinking with amusement back to a video I saw recently about how if you gender swap, a lot of stories suddenly feel very very wrong. Like here, just swap genders and you have an invisible man oggling a woman while exercising and sleeping. 😬

Sadly all of that is very true. Editing is bad, continuity sometimes horrible, chemistry between anyone doesn't exist. Script pretty bad. At episode 4 I figured out it was probably meant as a parody (? I guess? some lines are so awful that surely it can't be anything but) just all-around badly executed, so I am gonna be treating it with the appropriate levity. I won't be dropping it (or not yet), only because I am in need of some background noise while I do embroidery.

I was actually really relieved that she wasn't as bad as in the donghua. It's somewhat bearable in animation (only somewhat, I still hated it), but can you imagine watching a grown up woman acting as a spoiled eight year old??? *shuders*

I must agree about the lack of chemistry between them, would rather if they just scratched that plotline since it's not that important anyway. But as someone who watched the donghua I must say it could have been much much worse. QL in the donghua acted like a spoiled eight year old, here she actually seems like a decent character.
