People coming here just to say this is slow and has no development are kinda crazy, I feel like we're not watching…
Meanwhile this is one of the dramas where the slowburn and character development made it worth it. None of the leaps were redundant, they all made sense. Their love for each other got deeper and we saw Yifan coming out of her shell. I'd say the second leads' story did feel a little choppy though. I feel like their scenes were cut a lot.
I must admit that this drama was not on my priority watch list, mostly because, while I did enjoy Hidden Love, something about it felt really shallow, and I couldn't get over how quickly the ML in that drama switched from platonic to romantic feelings. Sang Yan in that drama was very lively, and I liked how Victor Ma portrayed him. So, when this drama was initially announced, I was skeptical, considering the apparent dark themes involving the FML and the casting — mostly because, while I did like Bai Jing Ting, none of his past dramas were particularly impressive to me, and I didn't enjoy Zhang Ruo Nan in her previous romantic endeavors. However, I came across multiple clips related to the drama on my FYP, which made me randomly try it — and I was hooked from the first episode!
The leading actors were very good and made me feel things. I liked how Sang Yan was portrayed here far more than in Hidden Love. In fact, the slow burn here was super enjoyable, and nothing felt shallow. The FML was also strong, and I appreciated how she was not written as a pushover despite her circumstances. Not once did I cringe, which is a huge feat considering it's a modern C-drama. I also enjoyed the second leads. Zhang Mao Yi is super cute, and I would love to see her in more lead roles. Overall, this is now one of my favorite Chinese dramas — and believe me, I have seen a lot!
Never liked this man but got the ick ever since I heard about his desire to marry a 21 year old at 41. What happened to Kim Saeron is tragic and anyone who defends this gross pedo and groomer should go to hell along with him! Unfortunately, the Korean law would ensure that he walks away from this case with a slap on the wrist. And a few years later, he'll be back with a drama and everyone will forget what he did. Men in SK have it so easy unlike the female celebs who have to go through hell at any slight mistake.
The only review here talks about plagiarism. This is adapted from a manhua of the same name. And there are many dramas with similar tropes. Not sure if this is copied lol
Well, another big turd from cdrama industry.Same same FL with multiple ex boyfriends.same same ML who is a extremely…
If this is the only thing you search for in a drama, maybe stick to western series where the ML is a player who cheats on the FL? There are also multiple Chinese harem dramas that will satisfy your taste.
Back when I was new to kdramas (around 2016), BOF had a huge fandom and I tried to watch it many times but never got the hype. Now, I'm glad to see reviews pointing out how ridiculous the plot is. For me, BOF(no matter how many adaptations it gets) is all about nostalgia and bad clichés. Chinese adaptations are still watchable though. The fml's acting here is substandard and unbearable. The sml was the best part of this drama ig.
