Main couple is the lead couple so romance. But! This drama has everything lol Bromance to sismance. You can literally ship each character with everyone else, any gender. The romance is there but it’s a slow burn, super subtle since the main plot is more about deep friendship between the team.
I really want a prequel of sorts of FoF where they explore how he gradually acquired those powers. I need more…

I never saw her as being used for censorship. There are other dramas and movies with BL and they didn’t need a girl for censorship lol There was really no GL, it felt more like sisterly bond since WenXiao grew up with XiaoZhuo, her adoptive dad and Situ, and it looks like all the others at the bureau are male, so no girls around her since she lost her master. If it was really BL they wouldn’t need her tears and token with ZhuYan’s rain to save everyone, it would’ve been something ZhuYan and XiaoZhuo can do together instead.
She’s weak but in her weakness she makes it up in other ways. She’s smart, mature, has wisdom she uses to help the team understand each other and their own predicaments. Home girl isn’t even afraid to admit she’s weak so kudos to her.
Without her existence, no bromance for those shipping it lol She won’t be there to help make XiaoZhuo understand ZhuYan. XiaoZhuo would forever be trying to off ZhuYan any chance encounter and he’ll be a very dark, vengeful character set to kill all demons, not just the killer of his family. WenXiao existed to heal a part of his broken heart from the lost of his family so he wouldn’t be someone evil. ZhuYan wouldn’t even be at the bureau if WenXiao didn’t exist for him to seek out too.
Poor XiaoZhuo’s feelings for WenXiao always overlooked by some viewers cuz they want the BL. All those hints and…🤣💔 I pity him sometimes cuz of it lol
