Thank you for the encompassing review and the references. I wrote a review of Drive my Car shortly after seeing it because I was blown away by the layering of themes in the work, but my knowledge of Murakami is woefully inadquate. You have certainly inspired me to go back to the source.
I hear you. There are some redeeming dramas - i think we were able to glean the gems from the older collections . From 2019 onward, the ones that stand out for me are: Vincenzo Chocolate Kiss Sixth sense Hospital playlist Hyena Mad for each other Sisyphus
I try to follow scriptwriters, and actors who seem to know a good plot when it comes their way: Kang Ki Young, Sung Dong Il.
The suddenly torrid love-making scene at the end of episode 11 is uncalled for. It seems like a Net-flix add-on, not Korean drama style. Hari suddenly changes from innocent into a hot chick climbing herlover?Nope. Contrived
I would love to see your 10/10 list. I really enjoy your reviews. Have you reviewed Pasta? I found it after seeing Coffee Prince and searching for more work by Lee Sun Kyun.
Also with initial hate turning to love: Hyde, Jekyll, me (with Hyun Bin) ; High Society (2015); King2 Hearts; and of course Pasta, for trying to hate someone you already fell for.
