Title Girls on Fire Spoiler
Talent was AMAZING - but mission of the judges was unclear and (in my personal opinion) ultimately led to just another girls Kpop group with a little more depth in singing ability (aka an opera singer). The final group when over simplified consists of Korean Elsa, a strategic opera singer that can sing other genres, a thoroughly trained Kpop trainee, a dual French national (or at least has been raised/has family there and can speak French) who can rap and only speaks aegyo, and the passionate Eonnie who oversteps alil and acts like everyone's mom. However there is nothing that shatters current Kpop trends nor establishes a new direction in the industry! They ALL had to be able to DANCE and give face to the camera well enough to even GET camera time... it was strange for a show wanting to create a woman's vocal group... they used age and dance ability as filters and actual vocal skills were NOT the defining criteria. And as the performances were sliced and diced and never shown as just centered, full stage as a viewer, you only saw what they wanted you to see and you did NOT see contestants they did NOT want to promote (who did not fit their criteria)... disappointing for a show that wanted to be revolutionary to be so pathetically redundant.

She's born to be a female lead, great news, they suit each other
Agreed! Idk about the age gap - @Paunitka's reply made me literally LOL... I would hate for either to receive negative feedback on something as trivial as 6yrs difference IN A SHOW AT THAT! Game on - let's see this court lady and ghost slaying shapeshifter (of sorts)!

Ohh and could we bring in Kim Jisoo - PLEEAAASE! End his self-banishment to the Philippines... I miss him in KDramas.... he needs an entry, what better than a cameo or support in his bud, NJH's return to screen post-military too?!! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ

What i understand:Idol - SNSD (more dance)vocal - mamamoo (lesser dancing)I think they want something like Phantom…
hmm I didn't know they said it many times that it would be like mamamoo... I like mamamoo but they also fall into idol category for me. The new BDU is supposed to be vocals and I can see that, but the direction they've taken the girl group so far on GoF is soo idol πŸ’”πŸ’”πŸ’” it's sad... perhaps Mnet is failing again, what do you think @Sayuri Offenborn?

Can someone explain the Kpop difference between a vocal group and an idol group? They keep saying vocal group but also want them to have the ability to dance etc... which make me think ideal... I originally thought this was like a female equivalent to the recent Build Up: Boy Vocal Group Survival that resulted in HunMinJayBit = Boys Define Universe (dumb name like so many) but it's Mnet and will be abbreviated B.D.U.

Thank you for making this movie and continuing to keep the history/HERstory of the widest, government backed institutionalized example of sex slavery in the pop culture discussion! It is mind boggling to me how the government of Japan cannot apologize for such an atrocious act after all these years. I have such respect for these women who survived these horrors and as grammies shared their stories. I hope - I deeply and sincerely hope that Japan can apologize before the last of them move on... time is running out... and I wish them to be at peace. In the USA my first exposure was the 2000 Silence Broken: Korean Comfort Women documentary - EXCELLENT! (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338433/ ). I would highly recommend if you are serious about acknowledging what happened during WWII and the honoring these young women's survival to our grammies today!

Ohh the evolution because now there's global platforms... if Goblin was to be released today I think it would still top... but Crash Landing and now QoT has Netflix and the power of international streaming and the backing of social media posts... I wonder if it would even be possible to standardize the ratings To me, Goblin will always be #1. Crash Landing was a pleasant surprise and well QoT has been fun and KSH and KJW are great, but it's still a romcom caliber to the heft of Goblin!

Agree with the general gist - a romcom that started out strong, but quickly fizzled. The essence was good and I actually really enjoyed the Omma and Ba-da characters and actors!
I have to say the amount of drinking shown along side the role (amount and impact) of medication for depression was frankly horribly irresponsible given how dangerous mixing them can be - I would have wished/hoped that someone writing on the subject (and having the main leads be doctors) that this would have been at least addressed if the lifestyle of daily drinking with daily meds was going to be portrayed so heavily.

just finished Doctor Slump and I had to write you because the amount of drinking shown along side the role (amount and impact) of medication for depression was frankly horribly irresponsible given how dangerous mixing them can be - I would have wished/hoped that someone writing on the subject (and having the main leads be doctors) that this would have been at least addressed if the lifestyle of daily drinking with daily meds was going to be portrayed so heavily.
Really well done and very powerful! Warning: hard, gut wrenching, horrific accounts. Saw this during my undergrad years when it was first released. Everyone everywhere needs to know about this -the largest government sponsored human trafficking for sexual slavery and exploitation in modern history! And yet Japan still has not upheld their acknowledgement... the last of these survivors are passing on... I think of them often since having seen this movie and wish them peace in this world and the next.

Hello! I was trying to find you on Instagram to write you. I LOVE your work - particularly, Angry Mom! Wondering if you have ever considered reuniting the cast for Angry Mom 2... bringing Jisoo back and doing a focus on the bullying of the cyber nature: netizens that seem to be going rampant and unchecked to the level of having serious and long term consequences for our beloved and young stars. PLUS Baro still needs to find his Dad's ledger... ;)

I was lucky enough to grow up before everything was recorded on phones, as you were too most likely... what a blessing to be able to live out the awkward, unsightly, and often ill executed moments of youth... to be able to make mistakes and know what true privacy really means... People make mistakes - it's part of growing up - sadly, no matter how we try, no one can grow up perfectly. I am NOT disregarding how serious some of these 'mistakes' can be! Trust me, I have lived on the receiving end of some unlawful acts and I believe that bullying needs to stop and that assaults (physical, sexual, mental, emotional) are not to be tolerated - much less encouraged! I think that's why I LOVE Angry Mom SO much - it is such a strong storyline with a well written and executed show!

Society around the globe, seems to be in a place where anyone can post a rough '250 characters' with little thought and in most cases rather anonymously and the result, potential for crazy impact and the originator can go pretty unscathed of some pretty trashy cyber commentary.... :( What do you say? As the screenwriter of such a masterpiece, couldn't you make something divine for this moment in time that could really speak to the masses - as Angry Mom did - and also help bring Jisoo back? I write this because I'm sick of the 'bullying' by such people 'netizens' thinking they own these kids (stars) lives, whether sending anti-fan or protest trucks or just nasty commentary and threats or dashing talented one's dreams through posts... (PeakTime's 23:00 team, Karam's pics only showed he was in the company of an adult star... not that he was behaving poorly towards the woman... isn't being respectful of someone's life choices a decent thing...?) IDK couldn't a powerful drama pinpoint on this type of bullying and refocus society on more important matters and deeper values?

Apologies for the long post. Please keep up the great work!
