Asian Drama on Filial Bonds at its Very Best

If there's one thing remarkable about the story of 4 ELEMENTS - apart from the romantic arcs of each of the leads - it's the amazing bond among the four cousins, especially between the two youngest ones, Lom and Fai. The two older ones have the onus of responsibility resting upon their shoulders - Din runs the farm like clockwork, Nam is poised to transition from little boss to become the big boss of hotels and resorts, but Lom and Fai get to do fun "stuff" that come with the recklessness of youthful abandon. Yet the bonds among these four cousins are so palpable, they're even thicker than sibling bonds - They'd give their lives for each other in a heartbeat! THAT is what makes 4 ELEMENTS not just a star-studded sapphic extravaganza, but also a touching family drama.

4 ELEMENTS is like a Disney fairy tale turned live action movie turned Asian adaptation.... Thailand for the win! The world sends its appreciation.

It's So Freakin' Complicated!

I'm still processing my reaction to Moonshadow Ep 1.... I still can't get over Key's declaration that Chan's her 1st love. But Chan can't remember anything about Key! šŸ¤”šŸ«ØšŸ¤ÆšŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

And now, I watched Episode 2 .... Still, I can't wrap my brain about what's going on haha haha šŸ˜‚šŸ˜† What da frick did Jay do to Chan?!! Chan seems drowning in so much pain and yearning, but rejects Jay who wants to come back into her life. And Sun's blood boils about Jay's existence. Why?!!?

Meanwhile, Key has so many dark skeletons from her past and many more mysterious intentions and motivations now.

Even Simba seems as stressed as I am about this show hahaha šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚ But it's a good stress, like the mind-fu** I got from watching Christopher Nolan's "Memento"!

Watching MOONSHADOW feels like one exceptionally long - and good! - f**eplay session....

I am agog! I am absolutely speechless about how good MOONSHADOW ep 3 is! "It's complicated." And mysterious. And beautiful. And painful. And simply wonderful!

And that ep 4 preview, "If I tell you, will you get out of her life?" Too yummy, I could hardly breathe, waiting for next Wednesday! MOONSHADOW is turning out to be soooooooooo dang good!!

Moonshadow episode 4 - My goodness. I've watched GL series, after series, after series.... And NOTHING - ABSOLUTELY NO GL SERIES kept getting better and better and better with each episode, until MOONSHADOW came along! Its story is unfolding in such a beautifully nuanced style, that it's absolutely impossible not to fall deeply into the Chan-Key-J rabbit hole! EmiBonnie have that unmatched chemistry that just ignites the screen! And Film as the villainess you'd love to hate but you simply couldn't because she's perfect? Well, she's perfect! Everything and everyone in MOONSHADOW is so addictive. It's like every episode leads the viewer into a new level of an intriguing, delicious, high.... If this trend keeps up until the Finale, MOONSHADOW would turn out to be one of the very best GL series that came out of šŸ‡¹šŸ‡! Keep up the irresistible work that you're churning out, Moonshadow! Great job.

J&J Gangster Extravaganza!?!

J&J Episode 1 clearly delivered on its trailer's promise that it's not gonna be just another high school GL story (SHADES set the bar pretty high for that category šŸ”„šŸ’–).

Think monster-level family feud that's gonna be gritty, action-packed, dads-'n'-bros-driven machismo-laden, elevatedly eggzoiiiiiiiitttttting!

So! Instead of expecting a Thai-flavored Mean Girls trope, it seems we should look forward to a John Woo-style GL gangster extravaganza! Could. Hardly. Wait. For. Episode. 2!

The Apple Has Dropped From The Tree

Just dropped everything to watch Episode 1 of My Lady’s Bodyguard and I have some whimsical, slightly unhinged thoughts — Let’s go!

First of all... 21 minutes?! Why is Episode 1 so adorably tiny? It’s like a gourmet appetizer when I’m already starving for the main course. The production value is giving money and I am respectfully asking the universe (and the producers) for longer episodes because I need more time to swoon properly. Quality over quantity, sure, but can I have both? Please and thank you.

Can we talk about OrmFolk? They’ve had a full-on glow-up since Apple My Love — and they were already cute then! Now they’re both very pretty. Like, how is it legal for two people to be THAT pretty? Every close-up had me pausing just to admire their clear skin. My heart is not prepared for the rest of this series.

Now, the vibe of this show hit me right in the childhood nostalgia feels. The moment Kaewked started changing into those man-clothes, my brain instantly queued up ā€œReflectionā€ from Mulan — but make it sapphic. I was literally singing internally:
šŸŽµ Look at me, I will never pass for a perfect bride
Or a perfect daughter
Can it be I’m not meant to play this part? šŸŽ¶
The gender-bending, the hidden identity, the quiet rebellion... it’s the wlw Mulan AU I never knew I needed. Disney, take notes!

Also, can we give a round of applause for Kaew’s bestie, Pakdee? That boy is a whole cutie-patootie. Supportive, charming, and bringing the sunshine energy. Every sapphic lead needs a golden-retriever best friend, and Pakdee is nailing the assignment. Protect him at all costs.

So to sum up Ep 1: Too short, visually gorgeous, OrmFolk are radiant, the Mulan parallelism is healing my inner theater kid, and I really like Pakdee. Counting down the days until Episode 2 — may it be at least 40 minutes and full of longing glances.

Big, big clap-clap clap-clap for Ep. 1!

Let's give a big round of loud applause to CHASING LOVE (done watching Ep 1 on Netflix): No "giant" stars in Chasing Love, but the production value is A+, the writing and directing seem solid, the acting's really good. And Thailand seems to have a veritable factory of beautiful women 🄰🄳

P. S. Filos here would appreciate my observations? šŸ˜‰šŸ˜…šŸ¤£ Or my sense of humor?!!? I'm flabbergasted that there are so many Filipinos in the CHASING LOVE cast! Song's grandma = Amalia Fuentes. The Chatphimuk matriarch = Armida Siguion-Reyna. Song/Nueng = Maja Salvador + Therese Malvar. Piang = Kim Chiu + Rufamae Quinto. Ploy = Lani Mercado. Ple = Cristine Reyes. CEO Chatphimuk = Yayo Aguila + a prettier Jan Marini. Rin = A prettier Serena Dalrymple. Nampraw = A prettier Melai Cantiveros but same energy hahahaha šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜šŸ„³šŸ‡µšŸ‡

What do I like best about CHASING LOVE episode 2? The excellent storytelling! It seems like each of the six main characters have interesting back-stories.... And the way each one is being unwrapped is quite engaging. This series would probably turn out to be a seriously funny rom-com, and THAT'S A GOOD THINGšŸ„°šŸ˜šŸ˜˜šŸ˜šŸ„³ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøšŸ‡¹šŸ‡

CHASING LOVE EPISODE 4 feels like a hodgepodge of GAP (the meddling grandma arc), ENEMIES WITH BENEFITS (the FWB development), LOVE BEYOND DREAMS (the "tabletop love" feels)… and somehow, inexplicably, it’s all working. I sat down expecting a SongPiang-focused emotional check-in and ended up with a whole three-ring circus of romantic chaos, and honestly? I’m strapped in and applauding.

What makes this episode genuinely interesting is that it finally stretches its legs beyond the SongPiang narrative. Don’t get me wrong, I adore watching Piang’s quiet, stubborn devotion crash against Song’s walls like a very polite yet raucous rich-kid wave, but giving the other pairings room to breathe turns this into a proper ensemble piece. The PloyPle angle is sprouting right before our eyes — that specific blend of bickering familiarity and unspoken ā€œI would absolutely pine for you if you stopped arguing with me for five secondsā€ energy. And the MudmeeRin plot twist? I didn’t see it landing that way, and now I’m squinting at every shared glance, rewinding scenes, and whispering ā€œoh, so THAT’S why you flinched.ā€ The show’s stitching multiple types of love together — grudging, secret, tender, and fierce — and it finally feels like a full, messy, beautiful tapestry instead of a single thread.

That said, I need to address the lab coat in the room. Song’s competition for Numero Uno researcher acts like an arrogant rockstar, not a serious scientist! This man struts into the 126 Food Corp facility like he’s headlining a stadium tour, tossing his hair and delivering research findings with the smirk of someone who thinks a microscope is an accessory. Sir, you develop food products, not chart-topping albums. I wouldn’t eat anything his team developed if you paid me in limited-edition merchandise. Haha haha haha haha — the laugh is genuine, but so is the second-hand embarrassment. The audacity is so thick it could be a new flavor prototype, and I’d spit it out immediately. Every time he opens his mouth, I mentally file a complaint with HR. Song, please destroy him with cold, hard data and a gentle, devastating smile. That’s the real rockstar move.

And yet, beneath all the mishmash and the cheeky scientist-roasting, there’s something deeply warm simmering in this episode. It’s the way Mudmee and Rin’s tentative, snarky dance reminds me that love sometimes hides in the spaces where you least expect to be seen. It’s the PloyPle twist cracking open a door I didn’t even know was locked, making my heart ache for a story that was hiding in plain sight. It’s Piang, still holding that tabletop like a relic, still fighting a grandma who thinks she knows best, and Song standing there with her heart in her hands, patient as the sunrise. I’m getting sentimental because, under all the borrowed tropes, Chasing Love is starting to feel like it actually understands that love isn’t just the chase — it’s the stumbling, the cross-referencing, and the accidental discoveries along the way.

So yes, Episode 4 is a little bit of everything, and maybe it shouldn’t work, but it does. It’s cheeky without losing its warmth, messy without losing its heart. I’m fully invested now, not just in who ends up together, but in how each version of love learns to stand up and say its own name out loud. And if that arrogant rockstar researcher gets a tray of beakers dropped near his designer loafers next week, I won’t complain. Just saying.

GRANDMA, PLEASE SIT DOWN. Episode 7 of Chasing Love didn’t just break my heart—it took it out, used it as a stress ball, and handed it back with a note that says ā€œNobility everything.ā€

I am so broken I need to file a formal complaint. Let’s do a damage assessment using the Thai number system, because counting my tears isn't enough:

ąø«ąø™ąø¶ą¹ˆąø‡ (Nueng) – Mudmee & Rin:
We were finally getting those glorious Mudmee close-ups (thank you, camera operator, for your service—that face card is never declining), and Grandma’s paranoia-spy-network had to go and murder the vibe. Who sends spies on their own granddaughter?! This isn’t protecting the family name, this is a B-movie villain origin story. We got 5 minutes of sweetness and a lifetime of heartburn.

ąøŖąøąø‡ (Sawng) – Song & Piang:
Song, I am boombastically side-eyeing you from another dimension. You have the emotional intelligence of a wet napkin. You’re walking around with the secret to shut Granny up permanently (just drop the "Your Highness" tea!) and instead, you choose to emotionally yo-yo Piang like it’s a hobby. Your trauma is real, but so is my impatience—and it’s thinner than Song’s personality. Piang, honey, that V-card must have come with a lifetime warranty because I don't see any other reason you're tolerating this zero-rizz, dry-as-cardboard behavior.

สาด (Saam) – Ple & Ploy:
My ONE safe harbor. The only couple with actual communication and natural progression. And Ple’s dad just had to swoop in and join the ā€œNetflix Meddling Spree Cinematic Universeā€ like he was auditioning for a guest spot. First the mata-pobre grandmother, now the overbearing father? This family drama is a horror show.

The Final Verdict:
All three ships have been obliterated in a single episode, and we only have ONE EPISODE LEFT to fix this mess. Chasing Love, how do you expect to reconcile three shattered couples in 45 minutes? Are we getting a magical time jump? A musical montage? A mass apology scene with 10-second resolutions each?

I need answers, not anxiety. Mudmee’s charm and PlePloy’s cuteness are doing heavy lifting, but Ep 8 better come with an explanation faster than Grandma can hiss about class status—or I’m checking out and pretending Ep 7 was the series finale. My blood pressure can't handle this, and frankly, neither can my keyboard. 🫠

LingOrm is back.... And with a big bang!

My thoughts on the first five minutes of IN LOVE FOREVER… I still ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø Lingling’s face. The way the light hits her, it’s like the cinematographer also has a crush, and honestly, valid.

Orm’s character, I hope she stays strong and doesn’t cry so much (like she did in TSOU and OY)… but knowing these two and the way they weaponize every single tear, I’m already stocking up on tissues.

Ling’s mother in TSOU was the gorgeous Um Apasiri Nitibhon; whoever was in that photograph in OY was beautiful too; her momster in ILF is something else! She didn’t just enter the scene, she oozed in like a slime-clad poison, leaving a trail of fiery fury and icy disappointment. I’m obsessed. Terrified. Deeply entertained.

But let me gather myself because I’ve now devoured the whole episode, and my heart is doing that wobbly, slightly over-steeped tea feeling — warm but dangerously close to bitter if things go wrong.

Episode 1 is promising, and the central conflict has me chewing on my own fist. We have Runch, a woman whose love for her wife is so pure it practically glows, yet her entire soul is tangled in barbed wire made of filial piety. That mother is an emotional maximum-security prison, and Runch keeps visiting voluntarily, bringing flowers. It’s not just ā€œmum isn’t supportiveā€; it’s a full-blown, generational manipulation banquet where love is served in control-sized portions and Runch has been conditioned to ask for seconds. The ā€œmomsterā€ vase drop was perfect because it shows she isn't s a cartoon villain — she’s the kind of mother who can shatter her daughter with a single, arched eyebrow; then make Runch thank her for the pain. I want to hug Runch and also gently shake her, whispering, ā€œBabygirl, your duty does not require your destruction.ā€

Then we have Neen, the nepo baby wife from the open-minded family — and can I just say, how refreshing it is to see a family that treats their daughter’s marriage as a joy and not a scandal? Neen’s parents probably have a framed wedding photo next to the Buddha shelf, offering incense for the couple’s everlasting happiness. She’s been raised with love that expands, not love that contracts into obligation. Watching her beam at Runch, so ready to build a life while unknowingly competing with a phantom mother-in-law who keeps moving the goalposts, makes me both swoon and preemptively ache. The cheeky part of me adores that Neen’s sunshine energy is so powerful, it’s practically a supernova facing a black hole of mother-in-law doom. But the sentimental part sees her wide-eyed, hopeful smiles, and thinks, ā€œOh, sweet girl, you’re in a boxing ring with a velvet glove and you don’t even know you’re bleeding.ā€

The push and pull is so painfully real. Filial piety isn’t just obligation; for Runch, it’s identity. Saying ā€œnoā€ to that mother feels like cutting off her own roots, even if those roots are wrapped around her throat. And honest love with Neen is the oxygen she never knew she needed. When they’re together, Runch’s face softens into something that says, ā€œThis is the real me, the one you’ve watered into blooming.ā€ I’m rooting so hard for that version of her to grab the steering wheel and never let go.

If Runch and Neen do get divorced, I’d be so sad. Not just a little sad, but ā€œlying on the floor staring at the ceiling while the OST plays on loopā€ sad. I’m not exaggerating — the thought of Neen packing her things while Runch stands frozen in the doorway, her mother’s voice still echoing in her bones, would genuinely wreck me. This show has already planted a tiny seed of dread beneath the romance, because the title is In Love Forever, and we all know that forever in drama is bought with struggle and sometimes a devastating separation before the final sunrise. I need the writers to know I am emotionally fragile and will accept nothing less than true love winning. Let the monster be tamed or at least forced into a timeout corner. Let Runch choose herself, which means choosing Neen, and let their marriage be a stubborn, beautiful rebellion that says, ā€œLove is not a debt you owe your parents.ā€

So yeah, after episode 1, I’m in. Cheekily I say: bring on the mother-daughter drama, because I love to suffer in gorgeous lighting. Warmheartedly I whisper: please, let these two hold on. The world is hard enough without Runch and Neen losing each other to a woman who weaponizes guilt like a samurai sword. True love, the kind that respects you, frees you, and makes you laugh even when you’re scared — that should win.

I’m lighting a candle, offering a snack to the drama gods, and sitting here ready to scream, cry, and cheer for all eleven episodes more. Let’s go, In Love Forever. Make it worth my tons of tears.

I have watched almost every title in the Thai GL series inventory, and have seen some annoying/reprehensible/deplorable characters.... But Neen's monster-in-law REALLY takes the cake! I couldn't imagine myself having serious spite against a fictional character, but after watching ILF Ep7, I think I'm feeling REAL HATRED for that monster-in-law! Gosh.

āš ļøSPOILERāš ļø Those who've read The Novel say that a real divorce will happen. Then Neen and Runch would reconnect two years later.... I'm preparing myself for the šŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’” episode!

On Netflix: IN LOVE FOREVER always gets me hyperventilating! I've hypertension and hyperacidity, thanks to that loudmouth meddling hag, my goodness!!

The end-all and be-all of the IN LOVE FOREVER story: Runch and her dad should grow a spine and some real balls that are big enough to break Neen's monster-in-law's devil-horns!

IN LOVE FOREVER Ep 8 on Netflix reveals the start of the vile conspiracy between two of the weakest, most detestable, horrible, despicable characters with absolutely zero redeeming value thus far: Utt & Gingkamol

Utt's underhanded machinations show that he is a weakling homophobe whose bruised ego never healed😠😤😔

Gingkamol's insane complicity and connivance with anyone willing to believe her delusional control-freaky treachery exposes that she seriously needs professional help, requires institutionalized care (preferably where the OOTD is a straitjacket), and lots of psychotropic medicationsšŸ˜¬šŸ¤¬šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

I cannot imagine a happy ending for Runch and Neen, unless the earth itself opens up and swallows these two, to banish them straight to the šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„ of hell.

ILF Finale - Thank heavens 'twasnt emotionally exhausting! Finally, after 11 brain-busting, heart-crushing episodes, ILF gave Neen and Runch the ending they deserve: Love is lovelier, sweeter, sexier the 2nd time aroundšŸ’–šŸ’

P.S. Next LO project? Give Orm a good girl/bad role who kisses everyone! She seems like a great kisser.... Lucky lucky Linglingā¤ļøā¤ļø

Supernatural PLOOK SEKG Energy

I'm gushing, I'm clapping, my heart's racing, and my jaw's still on the floor—KHOM KHLANG episode 1 is out and it's giving major plook sekg (sacred charm) energy! ✨

This isn't just any GL drama—it's steeped in saiyasart (sorcery), khatha (sacred incantations), and wicha (mystical knowledge) that'll have you believing in the unseen. The production design? Kong kraphan (spiritually fortified)—every frame is dripping with occult symbolism and ancient Thai mysticism.

And the acting? Finally, GL actresses (both beauty queens: One is the first woman from Thailand to win Miss International and the first Thai delegate to win one of the Big Four international beauty pageants since Bui Simon was crowned Miss Universe 1988. The other was crowned the winner of Jaymart's Miss Mobile Thailand.) who already have true kong kraphan (protective magic) in their craft—no extra workshop hours needed.

The storytelling is khlang (potent), the screenplay is sharp, and the screen presence of the rational police officer and spiritual master? Already pumping plook sekg energy—undeniable and powerful.

Oh, and did I mention this is only EPISODE 1?! It's so refreshing to see that the whole cast seems to look like they're 101% Asian (not that Becky, Sonya, Charlotte, etc aren't yummy eye candy, but I do miss the authentic southeast Asian features sometimes): BULAN (Bint Sireethorn Leearamwat) is sultry, gorgeous, irresistible, and her chemistry with Peecha (Puinoon Warangsiri Tanajarusworaphat) is dang off the charts!

Who else is already possessed by this new series?
