I agree with this theory. And why did Sang Un kill Hwal? I think she thought that he had become Bulgasal and thus remembered the whole past, that's why he killed his son and wife, because 1000 years ago they wanted to kill him, and he swore revenge. I don't think her character is badly written. I do not agree with your opinion. As for me, without her, this whole drama would not make sense, in particular because her presence changes the main character and moves the action forward. Without her, Hwal relations with the "family from the past" would not take place at all, they would only be shallow and superficial.
