TTJ probably never knew the exact point when LSS took over LXW'S body until episode 35.

TTJ recognised how LSS loves him. It isnt a nonreciprocal love. The mission may be the reason LSS originally saved him, but TTJ realised how LSS had time and time again, put his well being before hers. Even for her mission, she didnt need to take it to that extent, but LSS exchanged her divine essence (which is like her life force) for his life. She knew the consequences of taking on the evil bone, but she was willing to risk it, just so he can have a normal life.

Plus, LSS was literally declaring her love for him in front the the immortal sects, by defending him and exposing her experience to everyone. She is risking her reputation and her sects reputation, and others finding out how she has the evil bone.

LSS doesnt express her feelings through words of affection, but she demonstrates it through action.
