Yay finally another drama that’s got me hooked!! Such an easy watch with such great chemistry! I haven’t watched a drama with the male lead before but am definitely sold on him, he’s handsome, charming and very charismatic indeed! ZLS is one of my favs and is always wonderful in her roles. Definitely the Park Min Young of the cdrama world where she matches with every single one of her costars!
I’m loving the storyline, it’s very sweet and bright. I’ve seen some comments about the age gap but I don’t see an issue, she had a harmless crush on him when she was younger (reminds me of when a teenager has a crush on a famous singer or actor and it’s not uncommon to have a crush on your older brothers friend). There would be a problem if he was showing romantic interest in her when she was younger but he’s always treated her as though she were his best mates littles sister and also a little sister to him. Even now, I still think he considers her more as a close family friend and someone he’s comfortable around, this mainly being because they’re both in a big city without close family or friends around. A 5 year difference is nothing unusual between two adults and I certainly have not seen him developing any real romantic feelings for her at any point even now. He’s certainly kind, helpful and respectful but that does not equal being romantically interested in someone.
On that note, I’m really looking forward to when he starts to realise that she is now a woman and starts to really develop real feelings for her. The trailer hooked me in and so far the dramas been rolling along nicely setting us up for when they eventually fall in real proper love! This looks to be one that I’ll continue rewatching :D
hello can anyone please recomend me a drama like this?
Hello!
The closest drama I can think of which is similar to this one would be the kdrama Scent of a Woman. Mature romance with good chemistry between the leads.
Also not the same storyline as this one but if you want something with sizzling chemistry between the leads, you could try Before we get married or Lesson in love. Also The Love Proposal is a Thai drama which I love. The chemistry between the leads is amazing, it’s so good I’ve rewatched a few times haha
Rewatching the ending hoping for some more concrete proof that He Ran’s alive but sadly it just doesn’t add up to me that she is :(
Xiao Han was far too heart broken when he realised he had her dads real portrait. When the flowers bloomed again, he also looked absolutely shattered. He had promised they would be together if the flowers bloomed in ep 8 so when they bloomed again, it seemed like it was a painful reminder that they are no longer physically together. I think the flowers blooming again also just reaffirmed her being his last woman forever hence why we see her toothbrush and mug still there. I’m convinced the last scene was a dream more than before because it really had a dreamlike feel to it and her voice was kinda echoey plus she was wearing the same dress she wore previously (I think in episode 2) when she got dressed up to go see him. Feels like they would always meet in his dreams which I think explains his pained looked when she first calls him, like he knows it isn’t real but then is just happy to see her again regardless. I also think that’s why he’s planted all the chrysanthemums, in memory of her.
I can’t help but still hope she is alive though and it’s possible that for whatever reason he just didn’t go with her to get treatment and perhaps at the end he was just surprised to see her at first but then that turned to pure happiness when he realised she was really there and maybe she dressed in the previous dress to remind them both of when they first started meeting. But then that seems kinda illogical because I don’t see why he’d not go with her to get treatment.. also I don’t think he would have been so heartbroken seeing the portrait and flowers bloom if she were still alive because surely they’d still be in contact while she’s overseas and also I think be would’ve smiled seeing the flowers bloom if that was the case rather than just cry..
Ok anyways this drama is clearly making me mad and overthink haha I’m going to need to distract myself with other dramas until I can accept the ending then I’ll rewatch! :D
I believe He Ran replaced it when she went back to his house because she had the real painting but it didn’t…
Yep agreed, a sad yet wholesome drama done well.
I thought the same.. I wish they’d used more of the cut scenes or neatened the transitioning from some scenes to others rather than give so much screen time to the mum in the later episodes. I could’ve just watched a drama full of He Ran and Xiao Han scenes to be honest haha anyways glad you enjoyed this drama too!
I have so many questions. I can't get this drama out of my head.Where did XH get the painting?Did ZYQ ever figure…
I believe He Ran replaced it when she went back to his house because she had the real painting but it didn’t show her actually replacing it, it’s just assumed she did it at some point.
I remember thinking the same thing like where is her mum? I’m going to assume she was there though and it just wasn’t shown cos not sure why she’d miss it. I think the wedding in itself was done soooo beautifully though so I think that was the main focus, him giving her a beautiful big wedding like he said he would when he proposed. Random thought but I also remember thinking why isn’t he wearing his traditional clothes but not sure if that’s a norm?
I believe she passed away so either she passed away in the snow or at some point after. I think he would have absolutely gone with her if she did end up going to get treatment but she ended up passing away regardless. I think he kept her things because he has committed himself to loving her until the end of his days anyways so he doesn’t feel the need to get rid of anything. When they meet in the garden at the end, I reckon it’s a dream or his imagination because she used to always pop up when he was in that exact spot so no doubt he’d reminisce while being there. I think his reactions to seeing her dads portrait and the flowers blooming were just way too heartbreaking for her to still be alive.
To be honest I did skip a few of He Ran’s mums scenes so I’m not sure if he found out. I thought it was implied that he knew but can’t remember which part this occurred or if I imagined it haha
I feel like a crazy person cos I just cannot get over this drama haha I just keep rewatching the deleted scenes and my fav scenes and keep replaying the soundtrack over and over again. I wish the deleted scenes were included cos they would’ve added that extra touch but grateful for those who’ve shared them and I’m glad the chemistry was still smoking and undeniable even without all of the cut scenes.
I’ll be keeping my eye out for XRH’s next drama. I really liked her as He Ran. Those little squeals of delight and excitement about Xiao Han were just so believable. I also didn’t find He Ran to be that immature and childish, prob cos I’ve watched so many dramas where the female lead is in her late 20’s or more and still acts much more childish. I thought she was more playful if anything and absolutely loved how she didn’t shy away from Xiao Han’s affection and was so obvious in chasing him. I thought that was a nice breath of fresh air because I do get sick of dramas where the female lead acts like a petrified fish when the male lead kisses her or makes any type of move on her.
I might have to rewatch Loving Never Forgetting now to get my Jerry Yan fix lol another drama which has lots of things I love with great chemistry between the leads too.
Fingers crossed another good drama comes along this year to help me move on :)
Can be interpreted either way but I think it was a sad ending..
Yeah I guess people interpret it differently depending on how they want it to end. I’d like to think she survived mainly cos I’m so invested in them being together and just get sad thinking about him waiting to be with her again for the rest of his days but I agree and think it’s pretty obvious she passed away too. I just think that if she went overseas for treatment then he would’ve gone with her, particularly because he had promised to look after her from now on. If for whatever reason she did go and he stayed then I think his reactions to seeing her dads portrait and the flowers bloom would’ve been much less heart breaking. It also makes sense to me that he’d keep all of her things because he said she is his last woman and he has committed himself to that. The cut scene seemed quite dreamy and surreal so I reckon either a dream or him just imagining her being there like she always used to pop up when he was in that exact location gardening. But anywho each to their own of course, I’m just glad most people enjoyed this drama! :)
Glad you're enjoying the show ! I remember when I was compelled to create my MDL account for a drama I was obsessed…
Yep I did see that! I think it would’ve been nice if they kept it in before cos it was a bit confusing seeing her confess then she just smiles and they hug so like you know he’s said it but then didn’t actually see it until now haha sometimes I find the cutting of scenes super strange lol such a great episode though!!
I just created an account so I could come comment on here haha I’m obsessed! I love these romantic melodrama…
Yay we get to see him say he loves her and they didn’t cut it this time!! My goodness, ep 23 was a roller coaster of emotions. So sad yet sweet and so heart wrenching. Jerry Yan is doing a wonderful job of portraying all of the emotions too. Not sure if I’m ready for ep 24!
I just created an account so I could come comment on here haha I’m obsessed! I love these romantic melodrama type dramas especially when they’ve got Jerry Yan, smoking chemistry between the leads and some insanely good OST’s! Storyline isn’t anything new but I’m always amazed at how addicted I can get to a drama over and over again provided it’s got all the stuff I like. I just watched the deleted scenes (thanks to all those who shared them) and I can’t believe they removed some of them. I don’t think they were even bad but understand if the production team didn’t want to delay airing the drama but at least they should’ve made some of the edits less choppy. Also I’m super confused as to why they removed the scene where Xiao Han says he loves her.. like that’s pretty crucial to me and Jerry’s acting was really touching in that scene. Super weird but anywho fingers crossed we get a happy ending!
