It's probably my wishful thinking, but is it possible that ML is just pretending to be so stupid in order to outsmart PM? After all, he was for years pretending to be a playboy just to survive in the palace. I just can't believe that the script writers could create such a useless character, so maybe there will be another twist?
Initially, I was really disappointed with the original ending, but having seen the alternative one and re-watching the first one, it grew on me as it opened the possibility to continue the story and show how the main couple's relationship would develop. Also, life outside the palace would have given them a chance to lead a carefree and happy life together (as opposed to a very restrictive life in the palace, with harem infights and frustrations) - yes, the ML would have to step up a bit and find something worthwhile to do, maybe becoming a great chef himself/ business partner?
Actually, the idea of presenting two different endings was quite a clever one - if the ML and FL wanted to stay together one of them inevitably had to make a huge sacrifice, and it was good to see how the choices they had to make would completely alter their lives.
Charming story, refreshingly light-hearted, with very likeable characters (ML is adorable at times)!
