i rewatched this drama series again from the start and did not think that FL should be back to the husbnd. The story obviously showed that she did not love her husband any more before the affair started … and during the affair, she kept thinking of her school-lover and was ready to divorce the husband to be with her lover.

Although the huband changed his behavior to care and love her as before, the hurt that he had made on her for years was still there. It did not make much sense that she could turn herself (180 degree) to love her husband more than her lover. She might regret about her affair in hurting her husband BUT she should start her new life with her school-lover whom she loved .. and he obviously loved and did nothing wrong to her.

The rule of written cheating wife’s drama is that the husband could not live without her at the end.

Totally agreed. The drama ends happiness … But the (real) life’s story still continues and their living will not be the same. Their love “may” be strong enough to make them forgiving and forgetting their past BUT, IMO, the case is quite rare.

In real life, it was possible that the husband might be able to forgive his wife’s affair BUT the question was IF he could really FORGET it? Their love would definitely not be the same as before. The hurt that the husband had done to his wife before the affair and the wife did to him during the affair was still there in their hearts. It may be easy to forgive BUT it is hard to forget.

In real life, FL would not get back to stay with ML. She had already ended her love and relationship with him before the affair started. Duirng the affair, she was happy with her classmate-lover and waited for him to come back until she heard that he passed away. After the baby was born, although the ML changed his behavior to love and care her, her love to the husband would NOT be as same as before. The hate that she had on him could NOT be completely gone and was still in her heart. Alhough she regretted about her affair, in reality, if her affair partner was not really a bad man and could accept her, she would go to stay with that man.

Drama is still a DRAMA !!! …

The common drama’s excuse for the cheating wife that she always kept the affair secret and did not early tell the husband until he later found out was that she did not know how to tell the husband … or she did not dare to tell the husband … or the worst was that she would wait until the right time

Good review and comments. After reading your comments above, I seem to better understand SY in the last EP when she said in the blog if her cheated husband HW did not find out, she would continue her affair realtionship with her lover SW. SY thanked HW in the sense that HW stopped her to continue serving SW’s desire whenever he wanted to sleep with her b/c she thought that SW loved and cared her as much as she felt for him.

For Joon-soo, after I watched this drama, I questioned myself if he should longer stay with his mom in future if the couple was divorced. We knew that SY loved her son and sacrificed herself for him. When JS grew up and asked SY why his parent divorced, how could she answer to him that she was exhausted and had another man in her heart to comfort her? If SY deceived her son and he found out the truth later, he might blame or hate her more.

SY’s MIL’s character seemed NOT to be logical. She was hurt by her cheating husband and she might endure her pain to save the family (though, the story did not show us much about HW’s dad). Logically, she should hate all of the cheaters.

The MIL loved SY and even scolded her son when she had misunderstood that he was the cheater. But when SY confessed to her MIL that she was the cheater, the MIL comforted her with unbelievable wordings that “Woman could be a cheater”.

IMO … SW noticed SY’s weakness and took advantage on her. During the three’s confrontation in the Hotel room, although SW was looked awkward, he well knew about his power above HW and SY and dared to say in front of them that he loved SY. The later story showed us that he did NOT care or love SY much. He left SY alone without comforting her in the Hotel room and later dumped her to save his family and career. He did not care SY’s feelings at all when saying to SY that he had met her husband and mentioned that her husband seemed to be a good person. This might be interpreted if HW was a good person, why did SY cheat on him?

The written story was NOT quite good in the sense that it did not show us much about SY’s disappointed feelings toward SW whom abandoned her completely while she had felt passionately in love with him … Surprisingly, SY tried to protect SW’s family while she did not do much thing to save her being broken family.

I just read your above review and below characters’ analysis and really liked them. I also enjoyed watching this drama and rewatched it to understand the story. OST was so emotional. Actings of all players in this drama were superb. I also shared my comments to your sub-comments below.

First of all, what do you think about SY’s character in NOT kneeing down and begging for HW’s forgiveness (as you may know, in Asian culture, when he/she does a (big or serious) mistake, that person will normally knee down and beg for forgiveness) although SY knew that HW had questioned her in not following him after the three’s confrontation in the Hotel room and she deeply knew that her affair guilt hurt him so much? … What she did in the entire series was only saying “I am sorry” which seemed too simply and insincerely.

The husband just met another girl and the wife found out. The most disappointing story was that the wife was so upset and acted violently in slapping her husband and injuring the girl in a public place. She blamed the husband in hurting her so much. Later the husband changed and improved himself to compensate her. BUT when she met a married man, she felt in love with him and kept her secret hidden to the husband. The confusing story was when the wife confessed to her husband that she “truly” loved and had an (emotional) affair with that married man NOT b/c she wanted to revenge the husband’s past betrayal BUT her hurt feeling was still there .…. WHAT !!! … So, she realized that the husband improved himself to be a good husband BUT WHY she still betrayed the husband and acted as the victim of her own affair liked an innocent pity girl, though she had felt hurt before due to the husband’s past affair and now her affair hurt so many people?

Hi, she told her husband that she did not sleep with jae-hak but her husband thought that she was lying although he knew that she never lied. Anyway, the husband said to her at the end that he did not care if she had slept with another man or loved another man b/c she was back to be with him now.

No one or Gao Wang Chim, himself, forced Ka-Lok to sleep with him. She, herself, chose to do it and then felt guilty. Her excuse to use her body to pay Gao was quite non-sense.

Ka-Lok hurt her boyfriend, Big Ding, by having an affair with Gao … and she was also hurt when her ex- dated with another girl. After Ka-Lok broke up with ex-, she then became Gao’s mistress. It was also hr choice !!! ….. When Gao’s wife confronted her, she said it was not her who approached Gao but he did … … she also added that she did not want Gao’s money or love Gao ..But when he pursued her with his love, she could not deny him !!!

Was Ka-Lok such a very innocent and crazy girl?

The written drama story is interesting. Actings of all actors and actresses are great.

Zheng Yu was hurt and had painful feelings when he heard his wife, Xiao Yu, crying out her ex-boyfriend’s name when they were making love on bed on the 1st night of their wedding marriage although Xiao Yu used to tell him before the marriage that she had not had any physical relationship with her ex- before. How could he trust his wife any more although she had told him the truth?

When asked, Xiao Yu also could not tell anyone that Zheng Yu treated her badly after their marriage b/c she cried out her ex-‘s name when she was on bed with her own husband !!!

I agree it is possible that love and time can move people through forgiveness. However, forgetting this kind of painful memory and “rebuilding trust” will not happen in such a short period in several months … it may take years or forever. Otherwise, question and bad memory will be again back shortly and it is not a “true” forgiveness.

Anyway, when I watched this drama, I also had a question if the son should stay with his mom after his parent divorced. The story showed that the wife was a good mom and loved her son. But if the parent might not come back and stay together at the (opened) ending happiness, when the son grew up and had a question of why his parent divorced, how would the wife respond to his question? Did the wife dare to say it was due to her affair guilt? … Or if the wife said that the divorce happened due to incompatible couples but her son found out later in the ‘Net that his mom admitted that she was happy with another man and did not think of the family or stop the affair if the husband did not find out, would the son understand his mom’s weakness leading to the affair?

@Yehet57 ….. My marriage life has been about as long as yours. Yes, sometimes, the marriage life is boring BUT openly communication in the family helps, clarifies, and solves all issues.

I like this drama story in showing that man should realize the hardship of housewife and/or career mom. I also understand why the wife cheats on her husband when she is tired and weak (although her excuse does not make much sense in the drama). What I dislike in this drama is that there are so many conflicting scenes of the cheating wife’s character … and the written story “too much” favors her.

Even in the nearly ending story, the story was written that the husband could NOT force himself to hug his wife b/c he could not forget the image of his cheating wife being with another man. Then after a short time period, their divorce could erase the husband’s trauma and then he may restart the husband-wife relationship again although he had a choice to date or started a new relationship with another girl. The ending story should be enough at the point that both ex’s should keep their relationship as good friend to raise their kid together ….

You said it all. The written storyline is good and interesting.

The wife was quite a cruel woman. She became friend with her husband’s mistress while she also hated the mistress so much. She used the mistress’ phone to call her office’s recording telephone and later called the police that the mistress might threaten her.

After I rewatched this movie, I thought about why the story had to have a scene showing that the FL also had a one-night stand with the mistress’ friend (just ignoring the nudity scene) … Did she want to revenge her husband by sleeping with another man without feeling any guilt to the husband?

It would be more interesting if the husband did not die at the end. Could did they three stay together and raise the baby?

The MIL’s written character was non-sense. Her son told the cheating wife to NOT tell his mom about the affair b/c his mom had a very hard time that his dad cheated on her. Logically, the Mom should hate any cheaters. When she firstly thought that her son was a cheater, she was so upset and scolded him. But when she knew that the cheater was her DIL, she was by her side and said that she understood her DIL and woman might have an affair . She was an ideal MIL whom every DIL should be looking for.

The story is good. It is quite hard to guess the opened ending story.

FL seems to know that ML likes her BUT I wonder if she likes him or thinks that he is her BFF. She definitely likes the second ML and thinks that she is betraying the ML if she also likes him similar to what her dad betrays her mom. After she confesses to ML that she likes the second ML, ML is hurt and does not want to talk with her any more. ML has ignored her since then.

At the end, FL decides to drop her class and moves to Seoul where the second ML “also” stays over there. The story does not clearly tell us whom in Seoul she was talking with on phone before she leaves the house and later meets ML at the train station. The story may be interpreted that when ML has ignored her, FL and the second ML may develop further relationship which makes her moving to Seoul and he might be the one whom she was talking with at home before leaving the house. If it happens this way, ML’s status will be BFF although he loves her, probably much more than the second ML ….. It is her destination and up to her who chooses any one.
