I am not going to continue arguing with someone who can't distinguish between fact and opinion. I believe that you are the one who is projecting and not understanding the drama correctly. So how can you say he was personally invested in these letters." Because he didn't just write what a man was saying on TV, he was wishing he could have a family to play the game with. This is clear in SDM's dialogue after that scene is shown.

Grandma told him the story and words to write in order to comfort her." Yes this part was fake and made up by the Grandma. That doesn't mean everything in the letters was fake.

"The letters were a forgery and communication between her and a NDS who does not exist in reality. That soul she met with these letter do not exist and that person was certainly not HJP. " Episode 4 proves otherwise. He clearly was writing as though it was him. He was basically just using a pseudo name.

I think in order to make the case that the NDS in the letters was a complete fabrication you have to ignore key moments in episode 4.
I don't get why people are shipping the leads. I like both their characters and I've tried hard to ship them together but I'm not invested in that ship at all. I've listed below the things that are driving my interest in this show.
1. Female lead and second male lead backstory (that first episode). That backstory makes for a much better romantic setup than the one we're getting with 1st ML. In terms of setting up a character I don't think first male lead can compete with second male lead.
2. Second male lead and his relationship with the grandmother (organic, sweet and savoury).
3. First male lead and his relationship with his parents, colleagues and second male lead all of which are so much more interesting and entertaining than the relationship between him and FL.
4. Relationship between first female lead and second female lead (the least interesting but that first episode got me invested in them).
I don't want to offend people who are shipping the leads and I'm glad for you if you're on the right ship but I'm frustrated for myself that I'm just not feeling it.
One more thing, to people saying the letters written by HJP aren't meaningful on the basis that 1. he wrote them with the grandmother and 2. he was making stuff up, I think we've seen enough now to know that neither of those things are entirely true.
